Sony 55-Inch BRAVIA 7 Mini LED Hits $1,098 at Amazon, the Same Price as Sony's 55-Inch OLED

Amazon is selling the 55-inch Sony BRAVIA 7 Mini LED for $1,098.00, the same figure it is charging today for Sony's 55-inch BRAVIA 6 OLED. The BRAVIA 7 is a 2024 LCD set and the BRAVIA 6 is a 2026 OLED, and Sony's own store lists both at $1,099.99.

The model on offer is the K-55XR70, a 4K Mini LED panel with full array local dimming, a 120Hz native refresh rate and Sony's XR Processor, running Google TV. That matters because the usual reason to pick the LCD, a lower price, has gone.

The $1,098 collision between Sony's Mini LED and its OLED

Sony's store lists the K-55XR70 at $1,099.99, down from an original price of $1,599.99. Amazon's $1,098.00 lands $1.99 under that.

Sony cannot ship it, though. The stock data on Sony's own product page reads out of stock with the message "Item no longer available", and every size in the XR70 line reads the same way.

The OLED is a different case. Sony shows the K-55A60 in stock in all five sizes at that same $1,099.99, and Amazon has the 55-inch BRAVIA 6 OLED at $1,098.00 too, where it has now sat for two days.

Amazon's $1,398.00 list price is not Sony's number either. Sony prints $1,599.99 as the original, so the cut from the maker's own figure is wider than the 21% Amazon advertises.

Amazon is the seller and shipper on this listing, not a marketplace store. Availability reads "In Stock", with no remaining-units count and no Prime-only price.

Only two of the four HDMI ports run at 120Hz

Sony's spec sheet is explicit about the split. A footnote on the HDMI signal row says "120Hz is supported by HDMI IN 3 and IN 4".

The bandwidth row says the same thing in numbers. Sony lists HDMI IN1 and IN2 for 4K signals up to 18Gbps, and HDMI IN3 and IN4 for 4K up to 48Gbps.

Variable refresh rate is listed as yes "for HDMI3/4", and source-based tone mapping carries the same note. Auto low latency mode is the only one of the three that covers all four inputs.

A PlayStation 5 and a 120Hz PC therefore want the same two sockets. Sony does not say which port carries eARC, so a soundbar may be competing for one of them.

Sony publishes no brightness figure and no zone count

The only luminance row on Sony's sheet reads "XR Contrast Booster 20". That is a feature name, not a measurement, and no nit figure for the K-55XR70 appears anywhere on the page.

There is no dimming zone count either. The word zone does not appear in Sony's published specification for this model, and neither does a count of the Mini LEDs behind the panel.

That is in keeping with the rest of the range. Sony also shipped the BRAVIA 8 II with no nit figure published, and the naming is its own trap.

BRAVIA 6 is the OLED line, while the higher-numbered BRAVIA 7 here is backlit LCD. Sony's BRAVIA 5 is Mini LED as well, so the number says nothing about the panel.

Where the older sheet wins is detail. Sony names the XR Processor and the per-port HDMI limits for this 2024 set, and names no processor at all for the 2026 OLED.

How it compares with other 55-inch TV deals

55-inch TVPanelPriceList price
Sony BRAVIA 7 (K-55XR70)LCD Mini LED$1,098.00$1,398.00
Sony BRAVIA 6 (K-55A60)OLED$1,098.00$1,499.99
Hisense S7 CanvasTV (55S7SG)Hi-QLED, matte$749.99$1,499.99
Hisense E7 Cinema (55E7SF)Hi-QLED Mini-LED$470.27$749.99
Hisense E6SR (55E6SR)Hi-QLED$329.99$449.99

The Hisense E7 Cinema is the direct Mini-LED rival at $470.27, and its listing claims a native 144Hz panel. That is $22.28 above the $447.99 the same listing charged on October 18, and well below the $548.99 it was asking on October 5.

The other two cut different corners. The E6SR at $329.99 drops the Mini LED backlight, and the S7 CanvasTV at $749.99 trades contrast for an anti-glare matte panel and an art mode.

Spending up is also on the table. The 65-inch BRAVIA 6 OLED is $1,298.00 at Amazon, which buys ten more inches and a self-emissive panel for $200 over this set.

Several numbers buyers usually want are simply absent. Sony publishes no contrast ratio, no measured input lag, no speaker wattage and no color gamut percentage for the K-55XR70.

Amazon gives no end date for the discount and no remaining stock figure. All prices here were checked on October 19 and can change without notice.
