Amazon has cut the Sony 65-inch BRAVIA 5 Mini LED 4K TV to $999.97, and the anchor behind the discount holds up. Sony still lists the same K-65XR50 at $1,499.99 on its own product page, so the Amazon price lands $500.02 under the manufacturer.
The listing shows a 33% cut from a $1,499.99 list price, with Amazon.com in the buy box rather than a marketplace reseller. Stock was moving during checking, and the listing read "Only 19 left in stock (more on the way)".
That is the part worth pausing on. A four-figure list price on a 65-inch mini-LED set is common, but a genuine $500 gap against the maker's own store is not.
Sony BRAVIA 5 65-inch specifications
Sony's spec sheet confirms the backlight is genuinely mini-LED. It lists the display type as LCD Mini LED and the backlight type as Mini LED, with dimming handled by XR Backlight Master Drive.
Sony also lists the backlight dimming type as local dimming. It does not publish a zone count anywhere on the page, describing the array only as thousands of mini LEDs.
The native panel refresh rate is 120Hz. Sony prints that under "Motion enhancer (Native Hz)" as "Panel Refresh Rate: 120Hz", which is separate from its XR Motion Clarity processing mode.
Processing comes from the XR Processor with AI technology, with XR Triluminos Pro handling color. Sony lists HDR support as HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, so there is no HDR10+ here.

The HDMI 2.1 count is narrower than the port count
Sony lists four HDMI inputs, all mounted on the side. The HDMI 2.1 feature set covers 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM.
However, the 120Hz signal does not reach every socket. Sony's signal-format note states plainly that 120Hz is supported by HDMI IN 3 and IN 4.
That leaves two high-rate ports for a console and a second source. One of those may end up carrying a soundbar, since Sony lists eARC among the HDMI 2.1 features.
Amazon's listing adds PlayStation 5 features including Auto HDR Tone Mapping, Auto Genre Picture Mode and a Game Menu. Sony's own picture-mode list includes dedicated FPS game and RTS game presets.
The set runs Google TV rather than a maker's own smart platform, with Gemini built in. Sony lists Wi-Fi 6, Chromecast, AirPlay and HomeKit support alongside it.
How the price compares at 65 inches
The BRAVIA 5 is not the cheapest mini-LED option at this size. Every alternative below was checked in the same window, and each one had Amazon.com in the buy box.

The Hisense U7 undercuts the Sony by $152 and carries a steeper 43% cut. Hisense advertises a native 165Hz panel on that listing, along with zone and brightness claims Sony does not match with published numbers.
Stepping up inside Sony's range costs considerably more. The BRAVIA 6 OLED line asks $1,698 at 65 inches, which is $698.03 above this mini-LED set.
Cheaper mini-LED exists further down the size ladder too, as recent 55-inch mini-LED discounts and larger 75-inch cuts have shown.
What Sony leaves off the spec sheet
A fair amount is missing. Sony publishes no peak brightness figure for this model, and the only luminance field on the spec sheet is left blank.
There is also no local dimming zone count, no contrast ratio, no input lag or response time, and no stated VRR range. The Energy Star field is blank as well.
Amazon publishes no price history on the listing either. The discount is therefore best judged against Sony's current $1,499.99 rather than against any past low.
