AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Is $347.98 on Amazon, $14 Above Its August Price

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is $347.98 at Amazon, which is $13.99 above the $333.99 the same listing carried on August 5. The chip has hovered near $350 for about ten weeks, so this is a settled street price rather than a cut.

AMD lists eight Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, a 4.2 GHz base clock and a boost of up to 5 GHz. The default TDP is 120W and the socket is AM5.

The 96 MB of L3 cache is the reason an eight-core chip from 2023 still turns up in gaming build lists. It is also why the listing's "4.20 GHz clock speed" bullet undersells the part, since that figure is the base clock.

What AMD's spec sheet actually lists

AMD's product page splits the cache into two rows, 96 MB of L3 and 8 MB of L2. The 104 MB total that gets quoted elsewhere comes from AMD's own January 2023 announcement table.

AMD does not publish how much of that 96 MB is the stacked 3D V-Cache die. It gave that breakdown only for the older Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which it described as carrying 64 MB of stacked cache.

One row is missing that the newer 9800X3D page carries. AMD does not list the 7800X3D as unlocked for overclocking, so tuning runs through Precision Boost Overdrive and Curve Optimizer rather than the multiplier.

The $449 list price is Amazon's figure, not AMD's

Amazon shows a $449.00 list price and a 22% badge beside it. AMD's product page for the 7800X3D prints no price at all, and its January 2023 announcement table gave cores, clocks, cache and TDP without a dollar figure.

The one AMD release that does say $449 covers the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which went on sale in April 2022 at that suggested price. That is a different chip on a different socket.

AMD's own store price is not available either, because the store redirects automated requests to the main AMD site. So the 22% cannot be checked against anything AMD has published for this processor.

What the 9800X3D changes, and what it does not

AMD introduced the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in October 2024 at a suggested price of $479. It is also an eight-core, 16-thread part with 104 MB of total cache and a 120W TDP.

The cache is identical, so the newer chip is not a bigger V-Cache stack. What it adds is Zen 5, a 4.7 GHz base clock, a 5.2 GHz boost, an unlocked multiplier, DDR5-5600 support and a 95 degree thermal ceiling.

No current Amazon price for the 9800X3D appears in this price check, so there is no like-for-like figure to set against $347.98 today.

AMD has not quietly dropped the older part. It still carries the 7800X3D in its desktop processor listing, sorted below the 9850X3D, the 9800X3D and the Ryzen 9 X3D chips, and above the cheaper Zen 4 Ryzen 7 7700X3D.

Other AMD processors in the same price check

Four other AMD desktop chips were priced at the same time. Only one of them ships from Amazon itself.

Ryzen 9 7950X$549.00Marketplace seller, only 3 left

The 5800X3D is the closest on price, but it is an AM4 part that uses DDR4 memory. It upgrades an older board rather than feeding the AM5 platform the 7800X3D needs.

The other three sit with marketplace sellers on low stock counts, which is a different kind of purchase. Anyone still choosing a chip will get more from a guide to current gaming processors than from a single badge.

What the listing does not say

The listing gives no end date for $347.98 and no count of how many units sit behind it. Amazon is the seller and the page reads In Stock, with no low-stock warning attached.

No cooler is in the box, and AMD recommends a liquid cooler for this processor. That cost, plus DDR5 memory and an AM5 board, sits on top of the $347.98.

This listing has moved by $26 in ten weeks, from $333.99 in August to $359.99 in early October. The price above is accurate at the time of writing and can change without notice.
