If your Windows 11 clock shows the wrong time, your
time zone might be set incorrectly. This can happen after traveling, using a VPN, or when syncing fails. Use the steps below to change your time zone quickly - either automatically or manually - and fix common issues.
1) Change Time Zone via Settings
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Time & language → Date & time.
- To let Windows pick it for you, turn on Set time zone automatically.
- To set it yourself, turn that option Off, then choose your zone from the Time zone dropdown (e.g., (UTC+02:00) Athens, Bucharest).
Tip: If the clock doesn’t refresh right away, toggle
Set time automatically off and back on.
2) Change Time Zone via Control Panel (Legacy)
- Press Win + R, type
control, press Enter.
- Open Clock and Region → Date and Time.
- Click Change time zone…, select the correct zone, click OK.
3) Adjust Daylight Saving Time (DST)
- In Settings → Time & language → Date & time, turn on Adjust for daylight saving time automatically.
- If your region doesn’t use DST, turn this option off.
4) Troubleshooting
- Options are greyed out: A work/school policy or parental controls may restrict changes.
- Time still wrong with correct zone: In Date & time, click Sync now under Additional settings.
- VPN changes your time zone: Disconnect the VPN or disable Set time zone automatically.
