TCL Launches Note A1 NXTPAPER Tablet with Paper-Like Display

TCL has officially introduced the Note A1 NXTPAPER, a new tablet built around eye comfort, handwriting, and AI-powered productivity. The device targets users who want the feel of paper without the limitations of traditional e-ink screens.

A paper-like display without e-ink limitations

The Note A1 NXTPAPER features an 11.5-inch NXTPAPER Pure display with a matte, anti-glare surface designed to reduce reflections and eye strain. Unlike e-ink panels, the screen supports 16.7 million colors and a 120 Hz refresh rate, enabling smooth scrolling, responsive pen input, and video playback.

TCL says the display significantly cuts blue light at the hardware level, while maintaining color accuracy and brightness suitable for long reading and writing sessions.

Stylus-focused design for note-taking and writing

TCL bundles the tablet with its T-Pen Pro stylus, which offers 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, dual interchangeable tips, and very low input latency. The company positions the writing experience as close to pen on paper, with immediate stroke response and subtle surface resistance.

This setup aims to appeal to students, professionals, and creatives who rely heavily on handwritten notes, annotations, and sketches.

Hardware and battery highlights

Powering the tablet is a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. TCL equips the Note A1 NXTPAPER with an 8,000 mAh battery and 33 W fast charging, targeting all-day use without frequent recharging.

Additional hardware includes dual speakers, a 13 MP rear camera, and an eight-microphone array designed for voice input, meetings, and transcription tasks.

Built-in AI productivity features

Software plays a central role in the Note A1 NXTPAPER experience. TCL includes AI-based tools for handwriting-to-text conversion, real-time transcription, automatic summaries, translation, and writing assistance.

A feature called Inspiration Space helps users organize notes, documents, and ideas in one place. The tablet also supports split-screen multitasking and wireless screen casting for broader productivity workflows.

Pricing and availability plans

TCL plans to launch the Note A1 NXTPAPER first through Kickstarter, with early-bird pricing starting at around $419. The expected regular retail price sits near $549, with wider availability planned for early 2026.

How it fits into the market

With the Note A1 NXTPAPER, TCL targets devices like the Kindle Scribe and reMarkable Paper Pro. Its main differentiator lies in combining a paper-like surface with a full-color, high-refresh-rate display and integrated AI features, offering a hybrid alternative to both e-ink tablets and traditional LCD devices.
