TCL 55-Inch QM6K Mini LED TV Holds at $498 on Amazon, a Cent Above Its October 5 Price

TCL's 55-inch QM6K QD-Mini LED is $498.00 at Amazon, one cent above what the same listing charged on October 5. The 17% cut against a $599.99 list price is a standing position, not a fresh reduction.

The 55QM6K is a 4K QD-Mini LED set on a CSOT HVA panel, running Google TV at a native 144Hz. It is the cheapest rung on TCL's QD-Mini LED ladder, and TCL's own spec sheet shows where the saving comes from.

What the $498.00 price is measured against

TCL sells the 55QM6K directly for $549.99, with a struck-through $649.99 beside it, on its own product page. Amazon is $51.99 under the maker, so the gap there is genuine.

The $599.99 Amazon anchors to is harder to place. TCL announced the 55-inch QM6K at $799.99 in January 2025, and its strike-through today is $649.99.

No seller currently charges $599.99. The anchor sits between two numbers TCL has used and matches neither.

The listing itself was recorded at $497.99 on October 5, with the same $599.99 list price beside it. Two weeks later it is a penny higher, which makes this a long-running price rather than an event.

The brightness number TCL leaves blank

TCL's per-size table gives the 55QM6K a display brightness row reading "High HDR Brightness". There is no nit figure, at this size or any other in the series.

The gap shows up clearly on TCL's own tier comparison. The QM7K is rated "Up to HDR 3000 Brightness", the QM8K "Up to HDR 5000" and the QM9K "Up to HDR 6500".

The QM6K is the only QD-Mini LED tier TCL rates in words alone. That table also has its labels crossed, with the dimming values printed under a heading that says Peak Brightness.

Local dimming is handled the same way. Every size carries the identical "Up to LD500 Precise Dimming Series" row, so the 55-inch zone count is not published, exactly as happened with the 75-inch QM8L and its unpublished zone count.

Rivals are not all this coy. Hisense attaches a figure to its sets, as the 85-inch E7SF and its 144 dimming zones showed.

144Hz is the figure TCL repeats, 240 and 288 are not

The panel refresh rate is 144Hz, stated in TCL's spec table and again in its launch release. VRR is listed at up to 144Hz, with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification.

The Game Accelerator number is less settled. TCL's product page prints "Game Accelerator 240", footnoted as needing specific resolutions and compatible hardware, and varying by screen size.

The artwork on that same page reads 288, and TCL's launch release says "Game Accelerator 288". Neither number is tied to the 55-inch, and neither describes a 4K refresh rate.

On the sibling QM64L, TCL spells the mechanism out as 144Hz native with a 288Hz mode at halved vertical resolution. It publishes no equivalent breakdown for the QM6K.

Motion Rate 480, which appears on the listing and on TCL's page, is frame interpolation rather than refresh rate.

QM6K, QM64L and the cheaper 55-inch mini LED

TCL's K and L suffixes are not interchangeable. The 55-inch QM64L covered in July is a 2026 Fire TV model sold through Amazon, while the QM6K is a 2025 Google TV model TCL sells itself.

They are different lines, but every panel row TCL publishes for both matches. Both are HVA, QD-Mini LED, 4K, 144Hz native, 1.07 billion colors and 40W Onkyo 2.1 audio, and neither gets a zone count or a nit figure.

Among the alternatives Amazon lists with live prices, one mini LED undercuts it. The Hisense 55E7SF is $470.27, or $27.73 less, and is also a native 144Hz mini LED, following its earlier run at $548.99.

ModelPrice at AmazonNotable difference
TCL 55QM6K$498.00QD-Mini LED, Google TV, 144Hz
Hisense 55E7SF$470.27Mini LED, Fire TV, native 144Hz
Hisense 55E6SR$329.99Hi-QLED, Roku TV, no mini LED
Hisense 55S7SG$749.99Anti-glare art panel, 144Hz
Sony K-55A60$1,098.00OLED, HDMI 2.1 features

Two more omissions are worth noting before buying. TCL does not give an HDMI version for the QM6K, or say which ports run 4K at 144Hz, although it publishes both for the QM64L.

Response time, measured color coverage and panel bit depth are absent as well, and the matte screen TCL lists for the series applies only to the 85-inch and 98-inch sizes. Google TV with Gemini is described as a scheduled update rather than a shipping feature.

Amazon publishes no end date for the $498.00 price, and listings can change at any time.
