Micro Center's Intel Core i7-14700K and MSI PRO Z790-P WiFi combo sells for $539.99 at Amazon, and the listing publishes no list price at all. Measured against the same two parts bought separately on Amazon, the bundle saves $34.49, or six percent.

The processor on its own is $359.99 and the motherboard on its own is $214.49, which comes to $574.48. That difference is the only saving that can be checked here, because a listing with no anchor price has no discount to report.
What the two halves cost apart
Intel's own specification page puts the recommended customer price of the i7-14700K at $409 to $419. The $359.99 Amazon listing already sits below Intel's figure.
Stock is thin on that side of the arithmetic. The standalone processor comes from a marketplace seller and shows only four units left, while the motherboard ships from Amazon itself and is listed as in stock.
The bundle is sold through Micro Center's own Amazon storefront, under its INLAND house brand. Its listing reads "Only 20 left in stock - order soon".

Micro Center charges $279.99 for the same chip in store
Micro Center's own site lists the identical boxed processor, part number BX8071514700K, at $279.99 against an original price of $499.99. That is $80 under the Amazon price for the same part.
However, that price does not travel. The product page states "Shipping Not Available" and "Available for In-Store Pickup Only", with a limit of one per household.
Micro Center does not sell the PRO Z790-P WiFi itself, and a search of its site for the board returns no matches. A store visit for the chip plus the Amazon board works out at $494.48, which is $45.51 under the bundle, and that is the real competition for this listing.
Micro Center's own build bundles have moved on to LGA1851 and AM5, as its Core Ultra 5 250K Plus combo with memory included showed. No 14700K and Z790 pairing appears in those bundle listings.
Core i7-14700K and MSI PRO Z790-P WiFi specifications
| Specification | Micro Center CPU and motherboard combo |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core i7-14700K, 20 cores (8 P-cores and 12 E-cores), 28 threads |
| Clocks | 3.4 GHz P-core base, 2.5 GHz E-core base, 5.6 GHz max turbo |
| Cache and power | 33 MB Intel Smart Cache, 125 W base power, 253 W maximum turbo power |
| Socket and graphics | FCLGA1700, Intel UHD Graphics 770 |
| Motherboard | MSI PRO Z790-P WiFi, Intel Z790 chipset, ATX |
| Memory | Four DDR5 slots, up to 256GB, DDR5-7000+ (OC) |
| Expansion | One PCIe 5.0 x16 from the CPU, one PCIe 4.0 x4, two PCIe 3.0 x1 |
| Storage | Four M.2 slots at PCIe 4.0 x4, six SATA 6G ports |
| Networking | Intel 2.5Gbps LAN, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 |
| Price | $539.99 at Amazon at the time of writing |
MSI lists the board as DDR5 only. The processor also supports DDR4, so an older memory kit cannot be carried across to this pairing.
Only one of the four expansion slots carries the PCIe 5.0 x16 link from the processor. MSI rates the rest at PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 3.0 x1.
All four M.2 slots are PCIe 4.0 rather than 5.0. Audio is the entry-level Realtek ALC897 codec, and the wireless is Wi-Fi 6E rather than Wi-Fi 7.
The BIOS question on a 14th Gen K processor
Intel's support advisory on Vmin Shift Instability, last reviewed on 21 July 2026, covers the 13th and 14th Gen Core i5, i7 and i9 desktop families. Intel tells owners to use the Intel Default Settings profile in BIOS and to run a BIOS containing microcode 0x12F or later.
MSI shipped that microcode for this exact board in BIOS 7E06vAH, dated 25 June 2025. The current release, 7E06vAK, is dated 28 August 2026, so a board updated today is covered.
MSI's specification page also shows a Flash BIOS button on the rear panel. That allows the firmware to be updated from a USB stick before the processor is ever fitted.
Intel has extended warranty coverage by two years for eligible affected processors, to five years from the original purchase date. The socket itself is near the end of its run, although Raptor Lake chips look set to stay on sale and new LGA 1700 BIOS support keeps appearing.
How it lines up against the AMD chips on offer
| Product | Price | List price | Cores and threads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core i7-14700K and MSI PRO Z790-P WiFi | $539.99 | None published | 20 cores, 28 threads, board included |
| AMD Ryzen 9 7950X | $549.00 | $699.00 | 16 cores, 32 threads |
| AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | $347.98 | $449.00 | 8 cores, 16 threads |
| AMD Ryzen 7 7700X | $234.59 | $284.00 | 8 cores, 16 threads |
| AMD Ryzen 5 9600X | $174.00 | $220.00 | 6 cores, 12 threads |
Those four are bare processors on AMD's AM5 socket. Each one still needs a motherboard and DDR5 on top, which the Micro Center listing covers on the board side.
What the combo does not include is everything else. There is no cooler, no memory, no storage, no case and no power supply, and Micro Center's own processor page confirms the heatsink is not in the box.
The listing does not publish a list price, a discount figure or an end date, and it does not say which BIOS version the motherboard arrives with. Intel's advisory names processor families rather than individual models, so the i7-14700K is not called out by name on it. Prices and stock are those shown at the time of writing and can change without notice.
