Samsung Odyssey G3 G30D Drops to $129.99 at Amazon, Stretching 1080p Across 27 Inches

Samsung's 27-inch Odyssey G3 (G30D) is $129.99 at Amazon, and Samsung's own store sells the same monitor at the same $129.99. The 43% cut is real, because $229.99 is Samsung's own list price rather than a retailer invention.

What it is not is an Amazon exclusive. Samsung's product page for model LS27DG302ENXZA carries its own "Save $100.00" banner at the identical price.

The G30D is a flat VA panel running 1,920 by 1,080 at up to 180Hz. Samsung rates it at 1ms MPRT and lists plain AMD FreeSync, not FreeSync Premium.

That combination matters because it sets expectations correctly. This is an entry-level esports panel with a mid-range stand bolted to it, and the sharpness is the thing buyers tend to misjudge.

Samsung Odyssey G3 G30D specifications

Samsung's own spec sheet for this model code fills in almost everything the retail listing leaves out.

What 1080p looks like at 27 inches

Spread 1,920 by 1,080 across a 27-inch diagonal and the result is roughly 82 pixels per inch. The same grid on the 24-inch G30D works out near 92 ppi, and a 27-inch 1440p panel lands close to 109 ppi.

In games at speed that gap is easy to ignore. On a desktop at normal viewing distance it is not, and text is where it shows first.

Samsung does list HDR10 support, which is worth reading narrowly. The same spec sheet gives 250 cd/m2 typical brightness and no DisplayHDR tier, so the badge describes what the monitor accepts rather than what it can show.

The stand is the surprise, the port list is not

Monitors at this price usually ship with a tilt hinge and nothing else. Samsung gives the G30D 120mm of height travel, 15 degrees of swivel each way, minus five to 20 degrees of tilt and a 92-degree pivot into portrait.

There is a 100 x 100 VESA pattern behind it if an arm suits better. A fuller stand is the clearest gap between this and the cheaper Dell SE2426H 144Hz panel that fell to $89.99.

Connectivity is thinner. Samsung lists one HDMI 2.0 input, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, a headphone jack and no USB ports at all, with both video cables in the box.

One HDMI port is the practical limit here. A console and a PC cannot both stay plugged into it, which is the same squeeze the AOC C27G4H2 at $99.99 runs into at the budget end.

How the G30D compares with the step-up Odyssey panels

The nearest alternatives in the same size class cost several times more, and they are buying resolution and panel technology rather than speed.

MonitorPanelRefreshAmazon price
Samsung Odyssey G3 G30D, 27-inch1080p VA180Hz$129.99
Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G61SH), 27-inch1440p QD-OLED240Hz$429.99
ASUS ROG PG27UCDM, 26.5-inch4K QD-OLED240Hz$934.00

The Odyssey OLED G6 at $429.99 is the one to watch for anyone who wants the pixel density back. Amazon shows it as sold by a marketplace seller with only 12 units left, so that price carries more risk than the G30D's.

The ASUS ROG PG27UCDM at $934.00 is a different purchase entirely, with 4K QD-OLED, DisplayPort 2.1a and 90W USB-C. Samsung's own ladder is cheaper to climb, as the 27-inch Odyssey G3 G30H at $169.99 and the 25-inch Odyssey G4 G40H at $199.99 have both shown.

What Samsung does not publish about the G30D

Size is the other variable worth checking before ordering. Samsung's store currently has the 24-inch G30D at $119.99 but out of stock, and the 32-inch at $249.99, which spreads the same 1,080-line grid even thinner for $120 more.

Several figures simply are not in Samsung's spec sheet. There is no grey-to-grey response time next to the 1ms MPRT number, no DisplayHDR certification, no DCI-P3 coverage figure, no local dimming claim and no built-in speakers listed anywhere.

Neither Samsung nor Amazon publishes an end date for the $129.99 price, though the monitor is at least sold and shipped by Amazon rather than a third party. Prices move without notice on both stores, so these are the figures showing at the time of writing.
