Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition cannot be bought on Steam in the UK, and the block was still in place as of September 19, 2026. Sony said in a statement that it is working with Valve on the problem, but it has not explained the cause or given a date for a fix.
Neither game had a UK store listing when Steam's public store API was checked at around 04:00 UTC on September 19. The same check for the US store returned both games as normal, priced at $39.99 and $59.99.
What happened to Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West on Steam in the UK
It has been reported, citing SteamDB's change logs, that the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man were added to the purchase-restricted countries on Helldivers 2's Steam package. That change reportedly landed at about 19:11 UTC on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition's package reportedly received the same restriction about a minute later. Visitors from the affected region were reportedly shown the message "This item is currently unavailable in your region."
The restriction is reported to block new purchases only. Players who already own either game reportedly kept access to it in their Steam libraries.
Other PlayStation PC releases, including Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn, were reported as unaffected. Sony has not said why only these two titles were hit.
Helldivers 2 is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published on PC by PlayStation PC LLC, while Horizon Forbidden West comes from Guerrilla Games. The timing is awkward for Helldivers 2 on Steam, where its user reviews fell to Mostly Negative in May after a run of unpopular updates.
Where both games stood on Steam as of September 19
Digital Citizen queried Steam's own store API for both games with the UK region code at about 04:02 UTC on September 19. Both requests came back unsuccessful, meaning neither game was listed on the UK storefront at that point.

The method itself was working normally. Unrelated titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Dota 2 returned UK listings with pound pricing in the same check, which rules out a broken query or a UK-wide fault.
That puts the restriction at more than two days old by the September 19 check, based on the reported September 16 timestamps. Neither game had been restored to the UK storefront by then.
What Sony said, and where it said it
Sony said in a statement: "We are aware of an issue affecting the availability of select titles on Steam in the UK. We are working with Valve to address the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience."
That statement was given to the media rather than published by Sony itself. As of September 19, no post about the issue could be found on the PlayStation Blog, the PlayStation support site or PlayStation's official X accounts.
So UK players looking for an update on PlayStation's own channels will not find one yet. The statement also offers no cause for the restriction and no timetable for lifting it.
No statement from Valve could be found at the time of writing. Any fix would still show up on the Steam store pages themselves, since that is where the regional restriction sits.
What UK players should check before buying
Because Sony says it is working with Valve to address the issue, the restriction could be lifted at any point. UK players should open the Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition pages on Steam directly before assuming either game is still missing.
If a store page loads with a price and a purchase button, the block has been removed for that game. If it still shows the "unavailable in your region" message, the restriction is still active.
Existing owners should not need to do anything, since library access was reportedly unaffected. Helldivers 2 players on PC can keep following its recent changes, including the DLSS, FSR and XeSS upgrade and the Proton 11.0-2 release that fixed the game on Linux.
Sony has not said what caused the restriction, why only these two games were affected, or when they will return to the UK store. The status described here reflects the September 19 check, and store availability can change without notice.
