The ASUS ROG GR70 mini PC is $2,589.00 at Amazon, and the RTX 5070 inside it is the laptop version of the chip rather than the desktop card. NVIDIA gives the laptop part 4,608 CUDA cores and a 50W to 100W power band, against 6,144 cores and 250W for the desktop RTX 5070.

The price is $210.00 off a $2,799.00 list price, which works out at 7.5 percent. Amazon is both seller and shipper, and the listing showed the machine in stock at the time of writing.
The configuration pairs a 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with that mobile GPU, 96GB of DDR5 and Wi-Fi 7. Both the processor and the graphics chip are mobile silicon, which is how ASUS gets them into a case measuring 282.4 by 187.7 by 56.6 mm.
What the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU actually is
Amazon names the part accurately. Its title reads RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, and one bullet calls it an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-Series mobile GPU.
ASUS is equally plain on the matter. The graphics line on the ASUS spec page reads Discrete - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, with the processor's integrated Radeon 610M alongside it.
The two chips share a name and not much else. NVIDIA pairs the laptop version with a 128-bit GDDR7 memory bus, while the desktop RTX 5070 that now tops the Steam hardware survey runs a 192-bit bus and 12GB.
Neither the US nor the global ASUS spec page states the graphics power this chassis runs the GPU at. The NVIDIA range for the part spans 50W to 100W, so the distance between a slow implementation and a fast one is large. That number is not published for the GR70.

The 96GB of DDR5 is a ceiling, not a starting point
ASUS does not sell a 96GB GR70. Its US page lists five configurations, and the memory included in them runs from 32GB to 64GB.
Every one of those entries carries the same maximum capacity line: 96GB, as two 48GB modules. The machine on Amazon is therefore already at the documented limit, with both slots filled and nothing left to add.
Those modules are SO-DIMMs, the laptop format, rather than the desktop sticks a tower would take. DDR5 SO-DIMM pricing has climbed steeply this year, which is part of what a 96GB system now costs to build.
The chassis works out at roughly three litres from the ASUS measurements. That puts it in the same bracket as the ROG NUC 16 and its RTX 5070 Ti, with a 330W brick sitting outside the case in both cases.
How $2,589.00 compares with other compact desktops
ASUS gives one figure of its own for this model, a store price starting at $2,399.00. That entry point is a different machine, built on a Ryzen 9 8940HX with an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU.
No per-model US store price is published for any 9955HX3D version, and no 96GB configuration appears at all. There is no like-for-like maker price to measure the Amazon deal against.
| Compact desktop | Price at Amazon | Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| ASUS ROG GR70 | $2,589.00 | Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, 96GB DDR5 |
| Apple Mac Studio, M5 Max | $2,299.00 | 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU, down from $2,499.00 |
| Apple Mac mini, M6 | $1,299.00 | Listed as shipping in three to five weeks |
| ASUS Chromebox 5a | $479.99 | Core i3-1315U, 8GB, 128GB SSD, down from $584.72 |
The Mac Studio with an M5 Max sits $290.00 below the GR70 on the same retailer today. It is a different kind of computer, with no discrete GPU and no Windows, so the comparison is about what a small desktop costs at this level rather than about frame rates.
What the listing leaves out
The Amazon page gives no SSD capacity, no model number, no Windows edition and no warranty length. ASUS ships its own GR70 configurations with Windows 11 Home and either 1TB or 2TB of storage, but the listing does not say which applies here.
The VRAM figure is missing too. The NVIDIA comparison page returns conflicting capacities for the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU column, and ASUS prints none, so the amount of graphics memory in this machine is not published anywhere official.
No end date is attached to the discount, and Amazon prices move without notice. The $2,589.00 figure was accurate at the time of writing.
