Sony Honda Mobility says its upcoming EVs will support PlayStation Remote Play, which lets you stream games from a PS5 or PS4 to the car’s built-in screens. The feature is set to debut on the Afeela 1, aiming to turn charging stops and parked downtime into a console-style gaming session.
PlayStation gaming comes to the car
The in-car feature uses PlayStation Remote Play to stream gameplay from your home console over the internet to the Afeela’s integrated display. You keep your console powered on and connected at home, then you sign in with your PlayStation account and start a session from the vehicle.
Players can pair a controller over Bluetooth and use the vehicle’s audio system while playing. Sony Honda Mobility positions the feature as an in-cabin entertainment option for times when the car is parked.
Connectivity requirements and limits
Remote Play needs a stable connection. Sony’s Remote Play support guidance lists 5 Mbps as the baseline and 15 Mbps as the recommended speed for best performance.
The system streams from your personal PS5 or PS4 rather than running games locally in the car. Network conditions will shape latency and image quality, and Sony frames the feature for use while parked rather than while driving.
Why this matters for Afeela
Sony Honda Mobility calls Afeela the first vehicle to introduce PS Remote Play as an integrated feature. The move highlights the company’s strategy to compete on software and connected experiences, not only on traditional vehicle specs.
For PlayStation owners, it also extends the ecosystem into a new screen. You can continue a session away from your TV without switching platforms or buying a separate in-car gaming service.
Availability timeline
Sony Honda Mobility has pointed to a California delivery window in 2026 for the Afeela 1. The company has not shared broader rollout timing for other regions alongside this Remote Play announcement.
