Phantom Blade Zero Gets Its First Patch With Performance Improvements, Difficulty Changes and New Graphics Mod

S-Game has released the first post-launch update for Phantom Blade Zero, introducing performance optimizations, combat improvements and difficulty adjustments following the game's successful debut.

The 3.7GB patch became available on Steam on November 4, 2026, after initially launching through China's WeGame platform. The update is also expected to reach PlayStation 5.

The changes address early player feedback, particularly problems involving combat audio, button customization and shader compilation.

Meanwhile, a separate community modification called Ultra+ introduces additional graphical improvements, including enhanced path tracing, ray traced ambient occlusion and optional 4K textures.

The update follows Phantom Blade Zero's strong commercial launch, with the action game reportedly selling more than four million copies during its first 72 hours.

Phantom Blade Zero Patch Improves Performance and Combat Feedback

The first update introduces two audio options called Hit Sound Intensity and Hit Impact Sound Intensity.

These settings allow players to adjust combat sound effects, making it easier to recognize successful attacks, blocks and parries during fast encounters.

S-Game has also added the ability to remap the Interact button on keyboards and controllers.

Performance improvements target specific environments, while changes to shader compilation aim to reduce startup times.

Previously, the game compiled ray tracing shaders by default. Following the update, these shaders are compiled separately after restarting the game with ray tracing enabled.

The patch also adjusts enemy behavior and environmental hazards to improve gameplay balance.

One notable change reduces the frequency of Hua, Deadly Betrothed's grab attacks on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker difficulty settings.

However, the more demanding Hellwalker and 66-Days difficulties remain unchanged.

Ultra+ Mod Adds Improved Path Tracing and Optional 4K Textures

PC players looking for additional visual improvements can also install the unofficial Ultra+ modification.

The mod focuses on addressing graphical problems associated with the game's existing ray tracing and path tracing implementation.

It introduces improved ray traced ambient occlusion, reduced visual noise and better stability in path traced scenes.

The modification also increases draw distances and allows more environmental geometry to remain visible when advanced lighting features are enabled.

An optional HDNatureTextures add-on replaces selected environmental textures, including rocks and cliffs, with sharper 4K alternatives.

Ultra+ also provides additional graphics configuration controls, allowing players to customize visual settings beyond the standard options.

Together, the official patch and community modification offer improvements to Phantom Blade Zero's gameplay and presentation, although the additional graphical features may require more powerful PC hardware.
