Phantom Blade Zero is now scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC, bringing S-GAME’s wuxia action RPG to market after several years of development and multiple major gameplay showcases.
The game combines fast martial arts combat, interconnected regions, a large weapon roster, branching story outcomes, and modern PC features including ray tracing and path tracing. It is also one of the more technically ambitious Chinese action games arriving this year.
Release date, platforms, and price
Phantom Blade Zero was originally scheduled for September 9, 2026, before being moved to October 29.
S-GAME said the additional time would be used to improve the launch version rather than relying heavily on post launch patches.
Development was completed in early August, while preorders opened on August 11.
| Edition | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $59.99 |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | $69.99 |
The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC, with the PC version available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Reports have also suggested a 12 month period of PS5 console exclusivity, which could leave the door open for an Xbox release later. However, S-GAME has not officially confirmed an Xbox version or the reported exclusivity arrangement.
Preorder bonuses include the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit. Both can also be earned through normal gameplay.
A wuxia action RPG with its own identity
Phantom Blade Zero follows Soul, an assassin formerly connected to a powerful organization known as The Order.
After the group’s patriarch is murdered, Soul is blamed for the killing and begins investigating the conspiracy behind it.
The story has an unusual time pressure element because Soul has only 66 days left to live.
S-GAME describes the setting as Kungfupunk, combining traditional Chinese martial arts with mechanical technology, body modification, and steampunk influences.
The game takes place across Wulin in the wider Phantom World.
The main story is expected to last around 20 to 30 hours, although exploration and side content can extend that considerably.
Combat revolves around Sha Chi
The core combat system uses a shared resource called Sha Chi.
It functions as a mixture of stamina, posture, and ability energy.

Both Soul and enemies rely on it.
Blocking and heavy attacks consume Sha Chi, while basic attacks, perfect parries, and Ghoststep counters can restore it.
Running out leaves either side vulnerable to a break.
Soul can equip two Primary weapons and two Secondary weapons.
Primary weapons are called Blades and come with Power Surge abilities, while Secondary weapons are known as Phantom Edges.
The full arsenal includes more than 30 Primary weapons and 25 Phantom Edges.
These include swords, cannons, hammers, axes, lances, bows, shields, fist weapons, and more unusual tools.
Weapon switching is part of the combat system
Changing Primary weapons during battle can restore Sha Chi.
This encourages you to rotate between weapons rather than rely on one moveset for an entire encounter.
The swap operates on a cooldown, preventing constant abuse.
Weapons also have different properties, including reach and status effects such as bleed.
Some techniques can be unlocked by defeating enemies who use them.
That gives progression a practical connection to combat encounters rather than limiting advancement to a traditional skill tree.
Defensive timing plays a major role
Combat uses blocking, parrying, and dodging, but enemy attacks communicate which defensive response is appropriate.
Brutal Moves can drain large amounts of Sha Chi if blocked.
Killer Moves cannot be blocked or parried.
Perfectly responding to these attacks can trigger Ghoststep.
Successfully parrying a Brutal Move or dodging a Killer Move at the right moment lets Soul reposition behind the enemy and counterattack.
Perfect parries can also restore Sha Chi and increase its generation rate, while correctly avoiding Killer Moves can provide a temporary damage benefit.
Four difficulty levels are available
Phantom Blade Zero includes four difficulty settings:
| Difficulty | Positioning |
|---|---|
| Wayfarer | More accessible experience |
| Pathbreaker | Standard challenge |
| Hellwalker | Higher difficulty |
| 66 Days | Hardest mode |
The highest setting takes its name from Soul’s remaining lifespan.
S-GAME has said the range is intended to support both less experienced players and players looking for a demanding combat system.
On PlayStation 5, the Platinum trophy can reportedly be earned in a single playthrough.
Eight interconnected regions make up the world
Phantom Blade Zero is not a fully open world game.
Instead, it uses eight interconnected handcrafted regions.
These areas include hidden bosses, weapons, alternate routes, and spaces that may only become accessible after obtaining the correct tools.
Phantom Edges also serve an exploration role.
Some function as keys for environmental interactions, encouraging you to return to previous regions after unlocking new equipment.
Traversal includes parkour, while bells act as checkpoints for resting and fast travel.
One region also includes a large lake crossed using a high speed vessel.
Side quests can change the main story
Side content has more narrative importance than simple optional rewards.
S-GAME says certain side quests can alter the direction of the main story.
The game reportedly includes eight endings.
These outcomes depend on exploration, completed side quests, and collected items rather than a single final choice.
That means players who rush through the critical path may see a different outcome from those who explore more thoroughly.
PC requirements remain fairly accessible at the low end
Phantom Blade Zero runs on Unreal Engine 5 and supports hardware ray tracing.
The PC version also includes full path tracing for high end systems.
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Target | 1080p, 30 FPS | 1440p, 60 FPS |
| CPU | Core i7 8700K / Ryzen 5 3600 | Core i5 10600K / Ryzen 5 5600X |

| Storage | SSD required | SSD required |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
All official performance targets assume upscaling is enabled.
For ray tracing at 1080p and 60 FPS, an RTX 5060 8 GB is listed.
Full path tracing at 4K and 60 FPS requires an RTX 5080 16 GB.
DLSS support and DRM
The PC version supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation.
AMD FSR and Intel XeSS support have not been confirmed.
The game had previously been associated with DLSS 5, but the developer later said it would not adopt AI features that interfere with artistic intent.
Denuvo anti tamper protection will be used on PC.
The final installation size has not yet been announced.
PS5 Pro enhancements are confirmed, although S-GAME has not yet provided detailed technical targets for Sony’s upgraded console.
With its October 29 launch approaching, Phantom Blade Zero now has most of its major details in place. Its combination of martial arts combat, flexible weapon systems, branching story progression, and demanding high end graphics settings gives it a distinct position among the major action RPG releases of 2026.
