A featherweight, modular action cam? DJI just launched the Osmo Nano, a 52 g camera “module” that magnetically latches to a multifunction OLED dock, records up to 4K/120, and captures 10-bit D-Log M. It’s available now in Europe from €279 for 64 GB or €309 for 128 GB, with no U.S. release at launch.
Why it matters: At 52 g, the Nano fits where bulkier action cams can’t, yet still brings pro-leaning files (10-bit, D-Log M) and serious slow-mo. The magnetically attached Vision Dock turns it into a tiny, touchscreen-equipped system you can reconfigure in seconds.
What’s new with DJI Osmo Nano
The camera module weighs 52 g and measures 57 × 29 × 28 mm, making it DJI’s smallest action camera to date. Pair it with the 72 g Multifunctional Vision Dock (1.96-inch OLED) to get a flip-able display, on-device controls, fast charging, and high-speed file transfer. The dock can face forward or backward thanks to symmetric magnets and quick-release latches, and it can control the camera remotely.
Image quality & frame rates
A new 1/1.3-inch 35 MP CMOS sits behind an f/2.8 lens with a 143° FOV (focus from 0.35 m to infinity). Photos top out at 6880 × 5160 in JPEG or RAW. For video, you get:
- 4K 4:3: 3840 × 2880 at 24/25/30/48/50 fps
- 4K 16:9: 3840 × 2160 at 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
- 2.7K 4:3: 2688 × 2016 at 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
- 2.7K 16:9: 2688 × 1512 at 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
- 1080p 4:3: 1920 × 1440 at 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
- 1080p 16:9: 1920 × 1080 at 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
- Slow-motion: up to 4K/120 and 1080p/240 (audio typically not recorded in-clip)
Footage is HEVC (MP4) up to 120 Mbps, 10-bit 4:2:0, with D-Log M and a DJI-quoted 13.5 stops of dynamic range.
Stabilization & shooting modes
You get RockSteady 3.0 EIS for regular modes (not available in slow-motion), plus optional horizon balancing (16:9 only). Timelapse, hyperlapse, and a SuperNight mode for aggressive low-light noise reduction are onboard.
Storage, I/O, and transfer
Two SKUs with built-in storage: 64 GB (48 GB usable) and 128 GB (≈107.6 GB usable). Add a microSD card only when the Vision Dock is attached. Via the dock’s USB-C:
- 64 GB model: up to 400 MB/s transfers
- 128 GB model: up to 600 MB/s transfers
Audio & wireless mics
Stereo capture comes from two onboard mics. The Nano can pair wirelessly with two DJI mic transmitters directly (first-gen DJI Mic not supported), avoiding a separate receiver.
Battery & runtimes
The camera houses a 530 mAh cell; the Vision Dock adds 1300 mAh. Fast charging takes the camera to ≈80% in ~20 minutes. DJI quotes:
- Up to 200 minutes of 1080p/24 when docked and fully charged
- Endurance mode: up to 60 minutes at 4K/30 (16:9)
Durability
The camera module is waterproof to 10 m (32.8 ft) without a case. With the dock attached, the system is IPX4 splash-resistant for sweat, rain, and minor splashes.
Smart features
- Horizontal & Vertical Shooting: switch quickly for social or traditional framing
- Auto Recording: set intervals and clip lengths for hands-free capture
- Gesture Control: start shots with a nod or tap in auto-record mode
- Pre-Rec: buffers a moment before you hit record to catch surprises
In the box & accessories
Both Standard Combo kits (64 GB or 128 GB) include: Osmo Nano Camera, Multifunctional Vision Dock, Magnetic Hat Clip, Magnetic Lanyard, Protective Case, USB-C to USB-C PD cable (USB 3.1), and a Dual-Direction Magnetic Ball-Joint Adapter Mount.
Sold separately: Magnetic Headband, Dual-Direction Quick-Release Foldable Adapter Mount, ND Filter Set, Glass Lens Cover, and additional Ball-Joint Adapter Mount.
Price & availability
- Europe: €279 (64 GB) / €309 (128 GB), available now
- U.S.: Not available at launch; DJI says it’s adjusting strategy amid “evolving local conditions.”
Quick take
The Osmo Nano rethinks tiny action cams with a genuinely useful modular dock, credible 10-bit/D-Log files, and 4K/120 in a 52 g body. If you shoot in tight spaces, mount on moving subjects, or want a no-fuss POV rig with real color latitude, this looks like DJI’s smartest small cam since Action 2.
Editor’s note (image idea): 16:9 hero showing the 52 g camera latched to the Vision Dock with the OLED on, plus a second angle of the camera alone next to the included hat clip and lanyard for scale.
