Nintendo may release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake on November 11, placing one of its biggest games of 2026 just eight days before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19.
The possible date appeared through a short lived Nintendo UK listing for a Kirby Air Riders amiibo. The page was quickly changed, but it reportedly showed a November 11 release date. Nintendo often launches amiibo figures alongside major game releases, creating speculation that Ocarina of Time Remake could arrive on the same day.
Nintendo has not confirmed the connection, so the November date should still be treated as unverified. However, the timing fits the company’s usual preference for releasing major games during the important holiday shopping period.
The remake has also received an ESRB rating of E10+, which offers another sign that development may be approaching its final stages. A rating does not guarantee an immediate launch, but publishers usually complete this process when the game’s content is stable enough for review.
A larger presentation may be close
Nintendo announced Ocarina of Time Remake during its June 2026 presentation, but the company only showed a short teaser. The footage confirmed that the project exists without explaining how much of the original game has been changed.
The ESRB rating raises the possibility that Nintendo will soon provide a detailed look at the remake. Gamescom in August is one possible location because Nintendo is attending the event as an official partner. Tokyo Game Show in September could offer another suitable stage for gameplay footage and release information.
| Key detail | Current information |
|---|---|
| Confirmed platform | Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Announced release period | 2026 |
| Possible release date | November 11, 2026 |
| ESRB rating | E10+ |
| Grand Theft Auto VI release | November 19, 2026 |
| Full gameplay presentation | Not yet shown |
A November launch would also help Nintendo avoid the crowded release schedules expected in September and October. The company has often saved an important first party title for November, when demand for consoles and games increases ahead of the holidays.
Nintendo may be comfortable competing with GTA 6
Most major publishers are expected to avoid releasing their largest games close to Grand Theft Auto VI. The new Rockstar title is likely to attract significant attention across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S when it launches on November 19.
Nintendo may view the situation differently. Ocarina of Time Remake would be exclusive to Switch 2 and would serve a different audience from GTA 6. Its family friendly rating, established name, and connection to one of Nintendo’s most respected games could give it enough space to succeed during the same period.
The two releases would also appear on separate console platforms. GTA 6 is not currently announced for Switch 2, reducing the direct competition for individual game sales. Some players may also purchase both titles rather than choose between them.

Ocarina of Time has remained an important part of Nintendo’s catalogue since its original 1998 release. It was later updated for Nintendo 3DS, but the Switch 2 project appears to be a more ambitious remake rather than another simple remaster.
Important questions remain about its combat, controls, world design, visual presentation, and possible new content. Nintendo has not explained whether the remake will closely preserve the original structure or introduce broader mechanical changes.
The ESRB listing suggests the game remains on course for 2026, while the removed amiibo date gives the November 11 theory some support. Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, the exact release date remains uncertain. A full reveal during one of the coming industry events would provide a clearer picture of both the game and Nintendo’s holiday plans.
