Xbox Free Play Days Adds Borderlands 4, F1 25 and Madden NFL 27

Xbox has started a new Free Play Days promotion for September 10 to 13, giving players temporary access to six games across racing, sports, survival, and action genres.

The lineup includes Borderlands 4, F1 25 2026 Season Edition, Surviving Mars: Relaunched, CarX Drift Racing Online, Dustborn, and EA Sports Madden NFL 27.

Most of the games require an Xbox Game Pass subscription, while Madden NFL 27 and the two hour Dustborn trial are available without that requirement.

The promotion runs until late on September 13, 2026.

Borderlands 4 leads this week's Free Play Days lineup

Borderlands 4 is the biggest name in this week's selection. The game is available through Free Play Days for eligible Xbox Game Pass members, giving players a chance to try it before deciding whether to purchase it.

F1 25 2026 Season Edition is also included, offering another option for racing fans, while CarX Drift Racing Online focuses more specifically on drifting.

Surviving Mars: Relaunched adds a strategy game to the lineup, while Madden NFL 27 represents the sports category.

All six offers are scheduled to remain available through September 13.

Madden NFL 27 and Dustborn do not require Game Pass

Most Free Play Days promotions are tied to Xbox Game Pass, but this week's lineup includes two exceptions.

EA Sports Madden NFL 27 is available without a Game Pass subscription during the promotional period.

Dustborn is also accessible without Game Pass, although its offer is limited to a two hour trial rather than unrestricted access for the whole weekend.

That distinction is important if you are choosing which game to try, since the other four titles require an eligible Xbox Game Pass membership.

Free Play Days can help you test games before buying

The Free Play Days program provides temporary access to participating games rather than permanently adding them to your library.

Progress and achievements earned during these promotions are typically associated with your Xbox account, so you can generally continue from the same save if you later purchase the game, where supported.

Several of the games in this week's lineup are also being offered at discounted prices during the promotion.

That gives players the option to try them during the weekend and then buy them if they want continued access after September 13.

How to access the Free Play Days games

You can find each title through the Xbox Store.

For games included through Game Pass, the store should display an Install or Included with Game Pass option when your account is eligible.

Titles with separate trials, such as Dustborn, should instead show a Free Trial option.

Availability depends on the specific game and your subscription status.

Six games cover a wide range of genres

This week's selection is relatively varied compared with promotions that focus heavily on one category.

Borderlands 4 provides cooperative shooting and action, F1 25 and CarX Drift Racing Online cover two different styles of racing, and Surviving Mars: Relaunched focuses on colony management.

Madden NFL 27 adds American football, while Dustborn offers a narrative driven experience through its limited trial.

The current Xbox Free Play Days promotion runs from September 10 through September 13, 2026, with most of the lineup requiring Xbox Game Pass and two games available without a subscription.
