Xbox and Discord look ready to work together again, and this time the partnership may be tied more closely to Game Pass. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently said that the two companies are “teaming up again” as Microsoft continues to make Game Pass more flexible for players. The message has started fresh discussion about what Xbox and Discord may be planning next.
The two brands already have a history together. Discord support first came to Xbox in 2022, giving players another way to talk with friends across devices. Since then, Microsoft and Discord have also offered smaller promotions around Discord Nitro and Xbox Game Pass.
One recent example came on April 1, 2026, when Xbox and Discord announced that Game Pass Ultimate members could get one month of Discord Nitro. However, that offer had a limit because existing Discord Nitro members were not eligible.
Asha Sharma’s comments suggest Xbox is looking beyond a simple Discord Nitro promotion

At first, Sharma’s post may sound like a normal partnership update. But her mention of Game Pass flexibility makes it more interesting. Xbox has been changing Game Pass recently, including lowering prices for some plans. The company also made a major change by removing day-one Call of Duty access from future releases, with new Call of Duty games expected to arrive on the service later instead of at launch.
That wider shift makes the Discord comment feel more important. Microsoft may be looking for new ways to make Game Pass feel more personal and easier to adjust based on what different players want.
Discord co-founder and CTO Stanislav also shared a similar message, adding more weight to the idea that something bigger may be coming. Neither company has confirmed the exact plan yet, but both sides are clearly pointing toward more details soon.
There are several possibilities. Xbox and Discord could be preparing another short-term Nitro promotion. That would be the simplest answer and would fit with what the two companies have done before. But there is also a chance Microsoft is thinking about deeper subscription bundles.
One idea being discussed is that Discord Nitro could become part of a Game Pass plan or add-on. Another possibility is a more flexible Game Pass system where users choose what they want in their subscription. For example, some players may want cloud gaming, while others may care more about PC games, online play, or third-party perks like Discord Nitro.
There have also been rumors about more Game Pass tiers, including possible lower-priced options and other bundle ideas. Nothing is official, so these ideas should be treated as speculation for now.
Still, Xbox’s direction is becoming clear. Microsoft wants Game Pass to feel less like one fixed product and more like a service that can fit different types of players. A stronger Discord partnership would make sense in that plan because Discord is already a major place where players chat, build groups, and stay connected.
For now, Xbox fans will have to wait for the full announcement. But Sharma’s post makes it clear that Xbox and Discord are not done working together, and Game Pass could be at the center of their next move.
