Xbox Ally drops to £369 in the UK, making it stronger value than Steam Deck OLED

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally has received a rare UK discount, bringing the handheld gaming PC down to £369.22 at Amazon UK.

That is a 26 percent drop from its usual £499.99 price, saving buyers £130.77. At that price, the Xbox Ally becomes much easier to recommend, especially compared with the 512GB Steam Deck OLED, which normally costs £479 and is currently sold out in the UK.

The Xbox Ally is not the most powerful handheld PC, but it competes directly with the Steam Deck in performance and price. It uses an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 7 inch 1080p display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate.

Here is the main deal:

Steam Deck OLED 512GB MSRP£479

The Xbox Ally should handle indie and AA games at 60 FPS without much trouble. More demanding AAA games are more realistic at around 30 FPS, depending on settings.

Its biggest advantage over the Steam Deck is flexibility. Since it runs Windows 11 with Xbox Full Screen Experience, it can access Xbox Store, PC Game Pass, Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and other launchers more easily. The Steam Deck can also run many PC games well, but Linux and Proton compatibility can still be a limitation for some titles and anti cheat systems.

The Xbox Ally also has comfortable grips, dual USB C ports, and a quiet cooling system. Those are important features for a handheld that is meant to be used for longer sessions.

The main downside is storage. The Xbox Ally comes with only 512GB, which fills quickly with modern PC games. The good news is that storage can be expanded with a microSD card, with support for cards up to 2TB. RAM cannot be upgraded because it is soldered.

Battery life depends heavily on what you play. Demanding AAA games may last around 2 to 3 hours, while lighter indie or AA games can reach around 7 hours. For web browsing or basic tasks, it can last much longer.

The Xbox Ally X is still the better option if you want stronger specs, but it also costs more. The regular Xbox Ally makes more sense for buyers who want a portable Xbox and PC gaming device without spending premium money.

At £369.22, this deal changes the value equation. The Steam Deck OLED still has the better console like interface and OLED display, but the Xbox Ally gives you Windows flexibility, Game Pass access, a 1080p 120Hz screen, and broad launcher support for less money in the UK.

For Xbox and PC players who want a handheld mainly for Game Pass, Steam, and lighter AAA gaming on the go, this is one of the better Xbox Ally deals so far.
