Winhanced update adds low power downloads for Windows gaming handhelds

Winhanced has received a new 0.9.6.5 update, bringing a useful low power download mode and several fixes for Windows gaming handhelds, including Lenovo Legion Go devices.

Winhanced is a game launcher built for Windows handheld PCs. It brings games from Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Game Pass, and other libraries into one interface, making it easier to browse, install, and launch games without jumping between multiple apps.

The biggest addition in this update is low power download mode. It works in a similar way to Steam Deck’s download behavior. When your handheld would normally turn off the screen or go idle, Winhanced can keep the system awake in a lower power state while downloads continue.

That should help reduce battery drain during large downloads. It also makes handheld gaming PCs feel more practical, since downloading big games on Windows handhelds can sometimes be awkward compared with SteamOS devices.

The update also refreshes the launcher’s look with new icons. These include custom glass style icons for different libraries, giving the app a cleaner and more modern feel. The design appears to follow the same broader trend seen in newer Xbox and Apple style glass visuals.

Winhanced is gaining attention because Windows handhelds still do not have one perfect launcher experience. Microsoft has been improving the Xbox app and Xbox Mode, but many players still want a smoother interface that works well across Steam, Epic, Xbox, and other storefronts.

That is where Winhanced can be useful. Instead of locking you into one store, it tries to make Windows feel more like a handheld gaming system while still keeping access to the flexibility of PC gaming.

The new low power download mode is especially helpful because handheld PCs are often used differently from normal laptops. You may start a download, put the device aside, and expect it to keep working without wasting too much battery. This update moves Winhanced closer to that kind of console like behavior.

The app is still not at version 1.0 yet, so it remains a work in progress. More features are planned, and the team behind it is continuing to improve the experience.

For now, Winhanced 0.9.6.5 looks like a meaningful update for Windows handheld owners. It does not solve every issue with handheld gaming on Windows, but low power downloads, better Legion Go support, and cleaner visuals make it a stronger launcher option.
