Warhorse Studios has confirmed that its next Kingdom Come project will stay in the same genre that made the series famous. The new Kingdom Come adventure is officially an open world RPG, and it is currently planned for fiscal year 2027, which means it could launch sometime between April 1, 2027, and March 31, 2028.
The clarification came during a new community stream with communications director Tobias Stolz Zwilling and community manager Tom Grey. Fans had questions after Warhorse revealed that it was working on two major projects: a new open world RPG set in Middle earth and another game connected to Kingdom Come. Now the studio has made it clear that the Kingdom Come project is not a smaller spin off or a different kind of experiment. It is another open world role playing game.
The new game may continue the Kingdom Come universe without following Henry again
One interesting detail is that Warhorse is not calling the project Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3. That may be because Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 ended Henry’s story. If that is the case, the next game could move to a new protagonist, a new region, or a new historical conflict while still keeping the same grounded RPG identity.
Stolz Zwilling said the studio will continue expanding the Kingdom Come universe and described the series as a passion project for Warhorse. That wording suggests the team still sees strong long term value in the setting, even if Henry is no longer the central character.
| Project | Current details |
|---|---|
| New Kingdom Come adventure | Open world RPG |
| Release window | Fiscal year 2027 |
| Possible launch period | April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2028 |
| Project lead | Prokop Jirsa |
| Previous role | Lead designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 |
| Separate Warhorse project | Open world Middle earth RPG |
| Middle earth RPG lead | Viktor Bocan |
The new Kingdom Come game is being led by Prokop Jirsa, who served as lead designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. That is a reassuring sign for fans because it keeps the next project close to people who understand the design language of the series.
The Kingdom Come games are known for their focus on historical detail, grounded combat, role playing systems, and slow building immersion. They are not typical fantasy RPGs with magic and monsters. They rely more on realism, social systems, survival details, medieval politics, and the player’s place in a believable world. Keeping the next game as an open world RPG means Warhorse is not moving away from that formula.

At the same time, the lack of a “Deliverance 3” title gives the studio room to refresh the series. A new story could make the game easier for newcomers while still rewarding returning fans. It could also let Warhorse explore another part of medieval Europe without being locked to Henry’s personal journey.
The studio’s other project is also worth watching. Warhorse is developing an open world RPG based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle earth, led by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 design director Viktor Bocan. That project does not have a release date or gameplay details yet, but it is separate from the new Kingdom Come title.
There are also rumors that Crystal Dynamics may be working on another Lord of the Rings RPG. If true, that would mean multiple Middle earth role playing games could be in development at the same time, though it is not clear how different they will be.
For Kingdom Come fans, the main news is simple. Warhorse is not leaving its historical RPG roots behind. The next Kingdom Come adventure is another open world RPG, it has an experienced series designer leading it, and it is still targeting fiscal year 2027.
