The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set for another busy year in 2027, with modders unveiling a large unofficial expansion called Revenge of Ofir ahead of the planned Songs of the Past release.
Revenge of Ofir is being developed by an international group of fans using the official REDkit tools. The project will take Geralt beyond the locations seen in the base game and its official expansions, sending him to Ofir, a region referenced in the books and previously teased in Hearts of Stone.
The expansion is planned for 2027, although the team has not announced a specific release date.
Geralt heads to Ofir after Blood and Wine
The story is set after the events of Blood and Wine.
Geralt has retired to Corvo Bianco and settled into a quieter life making wine, but that changes when he becomes involved in a new crisis in Ofir.
The region is dealing with instability following the death of the heir to the throne, drawing Geralt into another political and personal conflict.
The developers say the expansion will include a non linear story with choices that affect how events develop.

The new region is expected to include side quests, hidden content, monster hunting, new equipment, and additional enemies.
A new Gwent card is also being added.
The team wants it to feel like an official expansion
One of the more ambitious parts of the project is its presentation.
The developers are aiming to make Revenge of Ofir feel closely integrated with the existing game rather than like a separate mod.
That includes full Polish voice acting.
Jacek Rozenek, the official Polish voice of Geralt in the games, is returning to voice the character for the fan expansion.

That is particularly notable because the team is using an actual returning actor rather than relying on AI generated voice replication.
The developers have not announced English voice casting, so it is not yet known whether Doug Cockle will participate.
REDkit makes much larger projects possible
Revenge of Ofir is being created with REDkit, the official modding toolkit for The Witcher 3.
The toolset gives modders much deeper access to the game than conventional modding tools, allowing them to create new environments, quests, characters, systems, and story content.
That makes projects like Revenge of Ofir possible on a much larger scale.
The new expansion is not simply adding a few missions to existing locations. It is being presented as a complete new region with its own narrative structure and activities.
A preview build is planned before release
The development team has not committed to a precise launch date beyond 2027.
However, selected content creators are expected to receive a preview build ahead of release.
That should provide a clearer look at the quality, scale, and polish of the expansion before the public version arrives.
The timing also creates an interesting situation because The Witcher 3 is already expected to receive the official Songs of the Past expansion in 2027.
Songs of the Past is set to receive a full reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026.
It remains unclear which expansion will arrive first.
2027 could become another major year for The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3 originally launched in 2015, yet it continues to receive significant new content more than a decade later.
The combination of an official expansion and a large fan made project could make 2027 one of the game's most active years since its original expansion period.
Revenge of Ofir already stands out because it is trying to match the structure of an official expansion through a new region, branching quests, monster hunting, fresh items, and professional voice work.
If the project reaches that goal, players could have two major reasons to return to Geralt's world in 2027.
