The Pokémon Company has reportedly posted its strongest financial year yet, reaching about 531 billion yen, or roughly $3.4 billion, in sales during fiscal 2026.
The figure represents a 29% increase from the previous year and continues a much longer period of growth for the company. Sales have reportedly increased around 4.4 times compared with fiscal 2021, when revenue stood at approximately 120 billion yen, or $769 million.
The results are notable because they arrived before the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves, meaning the company's latest major core entry was not needed to push revenue to a new record.
Pokémon sales have grown sharply since 2021
| Fiscal year | Reported sales |
|---|---|
| 2021 | 120 billion yen |
| 2026 | 531 billion yen |
| Approximate 2026 value | $3.4 billion |
| Growth from prior year | 29% |
| Growth since 2021 | About 4.4 times |
The company's net income has also expanded significantly over a longer period. Reports based on Japanese financial disclosures suggest that net income has increased around 13.6 times since 2018.
The Pokémon Company is privately held, so it does not publish the same level of financial detail as a listed company. However, some figures become public through Japan's official government gazette.
Those disclosures have given a clearer picture of how quickly the business has grown.
Pokopia and FireRed and LeafGreen likely helped
Several major releases appear to have contributed to the strong fiscal year.
Pokémon Pokopia became one of the company's biggest recent successes, reportedly selling five million copies within five months of launch.
The Switch rereleases of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen also performed strongly, reaching around four million copies sold. That added another major commercial release without requiring an entirely new mainline generation.
Both titles broadened the company's 2026 lineup beyond traditional core Pokémon games.
Pokopia targeted players interested in a more relaxed spin off experience, while FireRed and LeafGreen brought two established Game Boy Advance titles to a modern platform.
Growth is not limited to one game
The financial results suggest that Pokémon's business is benefiting from a wide range of products rather than depending on one flagship launch.
The franchise now spans mainline games, spin offs, rereleases, merchandise, trading cards, mobile titles and licensed products. The latest figures do not break down exactly how much revenue came from each category, so it is not possible to attribute the full increase to individual games.

Still, the timing makes Pokopia and the FireRed and LeafGreen rereleases two of the most visible contributors during the period.
Pokémon Winds and Waves has yet to arrive, giving the company another major release capable of affecting future results.
Record sales arrived before the next mainline release
The most significant part of the fiscal 2026 result is that The Pokémon Company reached a new sales record without relying on Winds and Waves.
That gives the company a strong financial base heading into its next major release cycle.
With sales rising from roughly 120 billion yen in fiscal 2021 to 531 billion yen in fiscal 2026, Pokémon's commercial growth has accelerated considerably over the past five years.
The next financial period will show whether the company can maintain that pace once Winds and Waves joins an already successful lineup.
