7 Tech Gifts Under $20 for Someone Who Uses a PC, Starting at $12.49

A Logitech G F310 gamepad at $19.99 is the most recognizable item that fits a $20 ceiling at Amazon this week. The rule that picked it cut most of the other candidates: nothing here asks the buyer to know anything about the recipient's computer.

No socket, no slot, no screen size and no spec to match. Each item also had to sit under $20 in the buy box, be sold by Amazon itself or by the brand's own Amazon store, and do something its maker publishes.

The seller rule did most of the cutting. Of 19 products priced for this list, seven were dropped because a marketplace reseller held the buy box or stock had fallen to a handful of units.

The ceiling decides what the money buys. A $30 budget reaches tools for someone who opens the case, and $50 buys desk gadgets such as label makers and charging stations. Twenty dollars buys the small thing that is simply missing.

The seven picks and what each one does

Prices below were taken from the Amazon listings on October 30 and can change without notice.

ItemPriceThe function its maker publishes
Logitech G F310$19.99Wired gamepad on a six-foot USB cable, with a D-pad resting on four switches
SteelSeries QcK Cloth, size L$19.99Washable cloth pad of 450 by 400 by 2 mm on a silicone rubber base
Lexar JumpDrive S80 128GB$17.99Up to 150MB/s read and 60MB/s write over USB 3.2 Gen 1
Belkin BE106000-06R$17.95Six outlets rated at 1080 joules, behind a 360-degree rotating plug
Amazon Basics USB speakers$16.75Stereo pair powered by 5V over USB, with no drivers to install
Elevation Lab Anchor Pro$15.99Under-desk mount for two headphones, fixed with 3M adhesive
Kensington ErgoSoft K52802WW$12.49Gel wrist rest intended for a mouse taller than one inch

Four of the seven cost exactly what their makers charge. Logitech, SteelSeries, Elevation Lab and Kensington all list the same figure on their own stores, so Amazon is convenience here rather than a discount.

Only two items undercut their maker. Amazon is $2.04 below Belkin's own $19.99, and the Lexar drive sits $10 under the price Lexar prints.

Kensington has discontinued the $12.49 rest that Amazon still stocks

The cheapest pick is the one with the shortest shelf life. Kensington's own product page for the K52802WW reads "Discontinued" and "Out of Stock", with the note "Expected in stock 12/01/2026".

The price on that page is $12.49, the same as Amazon's. The difference is that Amazon has units today.

Kensington describes a gel-cushioned pad under a soft exterior, and says it suits a mouse higher than one inch. It carries a limited two-year warranty, and Kensington says it meets MIL-STD-810H Method 504.3 for exposure to alcohol and bleach.

That specification block lists nothing else. The 2.9 by 0.7 by 6 inch measurements appear only in the Amazon listing title, not on Kensington's page.

Lexar's $17.99 flash drive is $10 under Lexar's own price

Amazon shows the 128GB JumpDrive S80 against a $27.99 list price, and that anchor holds up. Lexar's own part-number table gives $27.99 as the MSRP for LJDS080128G-BNBNU, the exact part in the listing.

Lexar rates the drive at up to 150MB/s read and 60MB/s write for every capacity from 64GB to 512GB. A footnote on the same page adds that write speeds are lower than the headline figure, which is rated on reads.

The drive weighs 9 g, measures 56.5 by 20.6 by 10.5 mm and comes with a three-year limited warranty. Lexar bundles security software with 256-bit AES encryption, although Windows can also lock a flash drive with BitLocker at no extra cost.

One detail does not line up. The page's feature copy says the S80 comes in capacities from 16GB to 256GB, while its own specification and part-number tables run from 32GB to 512GB.

The F310 is a price match, and Logitech publishes almost nothing about it

Logitech sells the F310 for $19.99 on its own store, so Amazon matches rather than undercuts. It is the safest pick for a buyer who knows nothing about the machine, because Windows treats it as a standard controller once it is plugged in.

Logitech says the gamepad runs on a six-foot USB cable and needs no setup for XInput games. DirectInput mode requires a software installation, and the Profiler software can map keyboard and mouse commands for games with no gamepad support.

The floating D-pad sits on four switches instead of a single pivot, which Logitech says makes it quicker through direction changes.

The specifications and in-the-box panels on Logitech's page render empty. Weight, dimensions and the warranty term are simply not published there.

What was cut, and what these makers leave out

A Logitech H390 USB headset at $16.99 was the closest rejection. Every listing under $20 was a Renewed unit with a marketplace seller in the buy box, so neither the condition nor the shipping was Logitech's or Amazon's.

Cyber Acoustics CA-2014 speakers at $17.99 were cut for a different reason. The brand's own Amazon store holds that buy box, but cyberacoustics.com closed the connection on every attempt, and retailers disagree on whether the pair is rated at 4 watts or 1.5 watts.

A SanDisk Ultra Flair at $16.72 was cheaper than the Lexar. Its buy box belongs to a reseller, with five units left.

The gaps are worth stating. SteelSeries publishes its own 30-day price history, and it records $13.99 as the lowest it charged for this size in the past month, so $19.99 is the high end of its recent range.

Elevation Lab gives no weight limit for the Anchor Pro beyond a claim that it holds the heaviest headphones. Amazon lists no wattage for its own speakers, and the only audio figure is a lone 103 hertz row. All seven prices were confirmed in the buy box on October 30, and none of them is fixed.
