Summer Game Fest 2026 will bring new reveals on June 5 as the summer showcase season begins

Summer Game Fest 2026 will stream live on June 5, giving players another major showcase filled with world premieres, release date announcements, and updates from publishers across the gaming industry. The event will air at 2 PM PT, 5 PM ET, 10 PM BST, and 11 PM CEST, with Geoff Keighley and Lucy James hosting the presentation.

The show has become the main summer gaming event following E3’s permanent retirement. Every year, it acts as a central stage for publishers that want to reveal new games, share trailers, or update players on projects already announced. The 2026 edition is expected to follow that format, although the full list of games has not been confirmed yet.

The showcase is expected to focus on third party games, with Day of the Devs following afterward

Summer Game Fest 2026 will stream through The Game Awards YouTube channel, the official Summer Game Fest Twitch channel, and the Summer Game Fest X profile. The official runtime has not been confirmed, but based on previous years, the main showcase is expected to run for around two hours.

The event will not end there. Day of the Devs: SGF Edition is scheduled to take place right after the main show, giving indie games their own spotlight. That follow up event has become an important part of the Summer Game Fest schedule because it often highlights smaller projects that may not get as much attention during publisher heavy showcases.

The timing of this year’s show is important. It sits between PlayStation’s June 2 State of Play and the Xbox Games Showcase. Because of that, the report suggests Summer Game Fest may not lean heavily on first party games from Sony or Microsoft. Those companies are likely to keep their biggest internal announcements for their own presentations.

That leaves more room for third party publishers. Capcom is one of the main names to watch. Resident Evil Requiem was revealed during last year’s Summer Game Fest, so its upcoming story expansion could appear here if it does not show up during the State of Play. The rumored Resident Evil Code Veronica remake is another possible candidate, although it has not been confirmed.

Square Enix could also use the event to show Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. The timing would make sense because Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X and S only a few days before the showcase. Square Enix previously used Summer Game Fest 2023 to show the first gameplay trailer for Rebirth, so the event already has history with the remake trilogy.

Other 2026 games could also receive release date updates, including Control Resonant, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. None of these appearances are guaranteed, but they fit the type of games that often appear during Summer Game Fest.

For now, the confirmed news is the date, time, hosts, platforms, and the expected structure. The biggest reveals are still being kept secret, which is normal for a show built around surprises. If the 2026 showcase follows the pattern of past years, it should offer a broad mix of trailers, updates, release dates, and indie games to start the summer gaming season.
