Street Fighter 6 adds Ingrid on May 28 with Sun Crest powered attacks

Street Fighter 6 is getting Ingrid on May 28, and Capcom has released a new starter guide trailer to show how she plays before her launch. The nearly eight minute guide breaks down her normals, projectiles, teleport, combo routes, and Critical Arts, giving players a clear first look at how her Sun Crest system works.

Ingrid is described as a versatile fighter, which means she is not locked into only one style. She can keep opponents away with projectiles, control space from mid range, and still fight up close when needed. Her main mechanic is the ability to generate Sun Crests, which can then be spent to power up her moves.

Ingrid can zone with projectiles, rush down with powered attacks, and reposition with teleport

The key to using Ingrid well appears to be managing Sun Crests. These charges make her abilities stronger, and the more she spends, the more effective certain moves become. That gives her a resource based style where players need to decide whether to save Sun Crests for bigger damage or spend them early to create pressure.

Her main projectile is Sun Shot, a ball of light that briefly stops before flying toward the opponent. This delay can make it useful for controlling space and interrupting the opponent’s rhythm. It can also be used in close range combos for extra damage. Because Sun Shot can be fired at different angles, it can also work as an anti air option or a way to confuse opponents trying to approach.

Ingrid move or featureHow it works
Sun CrestsResource used to power up her abilities
Sun ShotDelayed light projectile useful for zoning and combos
Sun FlareMid range beam attack that can become stronger with Sun Crests
Vanishing SunTeleport used for movement, attacks, or defensive spacing
Critical ArtsSuper attacks that can also benefit from Sun Crests

Sun Flare gives Ingrid another strong tool at mid range. If Sun Crests are spent, the move can fire a beam across the entire screen. The powered version can also open the opponent up for follow up pressure, giving Ingrid a path from zoning into rushdown.

Vanishing Sun may be one of her most important tools. The move lets Ingrid teleport and control the distance between herself and her opponent. That gives her flexibility in both attack and defense. She can use it to reposition, start aerial or grounded pressure, or move away when a fight becomes risky.

The starter guide also shows that Ingrid can fight well at close range. She has simple but effective combo options, and those combos can be extended by spending Sun Crests. That should make her approachable for players who want clear routes, while still giving more advanced players room to optimize her resource use.

Ingrid’s launch will arrive alongside a free Street Fighter 6 update that adds new Avatar focused modes. Random Avatar Matches will let players fight other custom Avatars on equal footing through matchmaking. Avatar Arcade is a single player mode where players battle CPU controlled Masters, with each Master offering special rewards and a progression track.

The update arrives as Street Fighter 6’s Year 3 DLC plan reaches its final stage. Rumors are already circulating about Year 4, including reports that Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa Lockhart could join the roster, though Capcom has not confirmed that.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Ingrid joins the roster on May 28, giving players a new fighter built around projectiles, teleport movement, and smart Sun Crest management.
