Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has received another major update, and this one comes with a strong push to bring in new players. Saber Interactive has launched a free trial, applied a steep 70 percent discount, and released Patch 13.0, which adds a new Operations mission and a major rework of Siege Mode.
This is not a fully repeated story, although it connects to earlier Warhammer Skulls news. The previous update focused on the wider Warhammer announcements and Space Marine 2 getting new content. This version adds more detail about the free trial, discount, and the Siege 2.0 overhaul.
Siege 2.0 makes horde sessions faster, harder, and more build focused
The biggest gameplay change is the Siege Mode revamp. Saber calls it a major overhaul, with the goal of making horde sessions quicker and more intense. The updated mode now includes a blessings and atonements system, giving players new perks every five waves while also adding modifiers that change the run.
Bosses now appear every five waves, and the overall difficulty has been adjusted to make the mode more demanding. Saber also says the changes are meant to give players more build crafting options, so each run can feel different instead of following the same rhythm every time.

Patch 13.0 also adds a new Operations mission called Purgation. In this mission, players must reclaim a Mechanicus facility in the Kadaku swamps. The update also brings a battle simulator, which lets players practice fighting enemies before jumping into real missions. Players can now swap perk loadouts during a session, and customization options have also been expanded.

The update is another sign that Space Marine 2 has grown beyond a simple linear action game. It launched with a strong campaign, but its cooperative mode has become one of its biggest strengths. Saber has continued adding missions, monsters, classes, and other content at a pace that feels close to a live service game.
That support appears to be paying off. The game’s recent daily peak was above 21,000 concurrent players, which is higher than several major multiplayer games released in the past year, including Dune Awakening and Marathon. For a game built around a traditional action campaign, that kind of multiplayer staying power is notable.
The free trial is also fairly generous. New players can try two campaign missions, three Operations, and all PvP modes. That gives them a real look at the game’s main pillars rather than a tiny demo. If they decide to continue, the full game is currently available for $18 or £16.50 until June 3.
For existing players, Siege 2.0 is the main reason to return. The completed wave count has been reset because the mode has changed so much, meaning players will need to earn their progress again under the new rules.
Space Marine 2 has already been a major sales success, but Saber seems determined to keep it active for the long term. With a new mission, a rebuilt horde mode, a free trial, and a big discount all arriving together, this is one of the game’s strongest post launch pushes so far.
