Digital Extremes has announced that Soulframe Preludes will become available to all PC players on November 6, 2026, removing the invitation requirement that previously limited access to the fantasy action RPG's early alpha testing.
The announcement comes alongside Preludes 17: Verse of the Veilands, a major update introducing rideable wolf mounts, a redesigned progression system, new equipment, and additional activities.
The update also expands the game's environmental restoration mechanics, allowing players to reclaim corrupted regions and gradually restore wildlife, resources, and other activities.
Although Soulframe is opening its doors to a wider audience, the game remains in active development. Digital Extremes has not announced a full release date or confirmed when console versions will become available.
Soulframe Preludes Will Be Free for All PC Players
Starting November 6, players will no longer need an invitation or a Founders purchase to access Soulframe Preludes.
Instead, they can download the game's dedicated PC launcher through the official Soulframe website and participate in the ongoing alpha test.
The Founders program will remain available, but purchasing it will no longer be necessary for access.
This change should allow Digital Extremes to gather feedback from a larger community as it continues developing the game.
However, the open alpha does not represent a finished release, and the game will not become available through Steam as part of this announcement.
Verse of the Veilands Introduces Rideable Wolf Mounts
One of the most noticeable additions in Preludes 17 is the ability to ride Omen Wolves.
Players who have been raising wolf pups can now help them mature into usable mounts.
Unlocking the feature requires progressing through the Veilands to obtain the Barn Biscuit recipe, which can then be prepared with Verminia.
Players can choose whether to mature their wolves, meaning the transformation is not automatic.
The update also introduces Ode Shrike, a new Pact inspired by hunters and poachers that emphasizes traps and deceptive combat tactics.
Additional content includes weapons, armor, enemy variants, new fish, and improvements to cave generation.
A returning seasonal event will provide further activities and rewards.
Players Can Restore Corrupted Regions of Midrath
The update significantly changes how players progress through Soulframe's world.
After completing the Torment Stag encounter, players can begin reclaiming regions affected by Ode'n corruption.
These areas contain Siphons that drain energy from the surrounding environment, affecting wildlife, resources, and available activities.

Players must complete missions called Votives, cooperate with local enclave representatives, and learn each region's sacred song to cleanse the corruption.
Successfully restoring an area allows wildlife and activities such as fishing and seasonal events to return.
Restored regions also provide different resources and rewards.
The Votive system has been redesigned to make progression easier to understand. After meeting the appropriate enclave representative, players can accept missions directly from the world map.
Digital Extremes Plans Better Cooperative Matchmaking
Digital Extremes has also identified cooperative multiplayer improvements as an important development priority.
The studio wants to make it easier for players to form groups and complete activities together.
Existing world tree hubs already provide locations where players can encounter one another, while improvements to dungeon and Votive matchmaking are being developed.
However, the developers have not confirmed whether those matchmaking improvements will arrive with Preludes 17 or a later update.
The studio also has not announced dedicated raid content.
With the invitation requirement ending on November 6, Soulframe will become accessible to a much larger PC audience while Digital Extremes continues refining its progression, combat, exploration, and cooperative systems ahead of the eventual full release.
