AMD Adrenalin 26.10.2 Fixes Driver Crashes and Timeouts on Radeon RX 9000 and RX 7000 GPUs

AMD has released Adrenalin Edition 26.10.2, a new optional graphics driver update that addresses several stability problems affecting Radeon RX 9000 and RX 7000 series graphics cards.

The update focuses on fixing intermittent driver timeouts, application crashes, unexpected shutdowns, and problems associated with specific games and software features.

However, AMD's release notes also identify several unresolved issues affecting multiple Radeon GPU generations, including the older RX 5000 series.

The new driver arrives approximately ten days after Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1, which introduced FSR 4.1 support for Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards but also listed numerous known stability problems.

AMD Adrenalin 26.10.2 Addresses Several Radeon GPU Stability Issues

The latest driver includes fixes for crashes and driver timeouts reported by owners of Radeon RX 9000 and RX 7000 graphics cards.

Some of these problems have been affecting players across multiple driver releases, particularly those using RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 hardware.

According to AMD's release notes, the update resolves several issues involving unexpected application crashes and intermittent system instability.

Some fixes specifically target games such as Valor Mortis, Death Stranding 2, and Final Fantasy Resonance.

The company has also addressed problems associated with its software overlays, including issues encountered when enabling or disabling certain functions.

Additional improvements affect the performance metrics overlay and reported problems involving the Steam launcher.

The update also includes fixes for certain systems powered by Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 series processors.

These changes should improve stability in the affected scenarios, although they do not guarantee that every reported crash or driver timeout has been eliminated.

Several Known Issues Remain Unresolved

Despite the fixes, Adrenalin Edition 26.10.2 still includes a substantial list of known problems.

AMD acknowledges that intermittent application crashes continue to affect some Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 series configurations.

Certain issues also extend to Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards, indicating that the remaining problems are not limited to AMD's newest architectures.

The release notes additionally mention problems affecting specific Ryzen AI processors, including reported black screen behavior in Gears of War: Reloaded.

Some previously acknowledged issues have therefore carried over from the earlier driver release.

AMD has not provided a complete timeline for resolving the remaining problems.

Future updates may address additional stability issues as the company continues refining its graphics software.

Radeon RX 6000 Recently Received FSR 4.1 Support

The new stability update follows AMD's earlier Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 release, which expanded FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1 support to Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards.

That development introduced additional upscaling capabilities for supported RDNA 2 hardware.

However, the same driver branch has also attracted complaints about crashes and timeouts on newer Radeon graphics cards.

Adrenalin 26.10.2 represents AMD's latest attempt to address those problems while maintaining support for recent games and software improvements.

Because the update is optional, Radeon owners should review the known issues and fixed problems before deciding whether to install it.

If your current driver is operating normally, there may be little reason to install the optional release immediately.

For players experiencing crashes or timeouts in the affected games, the update may provide a useful improvement.

AMD is expected to continue addressing the remaining issues through future Adrenalin releases, although no specific schedule for additional fixes has been confirmed.
