Capcom has released a free DLC update for Resident Evil Requiem, adding a new mode called Leon Must Die Forever.
The mode lets you play as Leon Kennedy in a wave based survival challenge filled with zombies and monsters. Your goal is to fight through increasingly difficult enemies and reach a final battle against Victor, the game’s main villain.
Leon Must Die Forever is not available right away. You need to finish Resident Evil Requiem’s main campaign on any difficulty before you can unlock it.
The mode has a similar structure to Resident Evil’s older Mercenaries modes. You fight enemies under a time limit, and special rare monsters can extend the timer when defeated. The difference is that Leon Must Die Forever adds roguelike elements on top of that familiar setup.
As you kill enemies, you fill an Enhancement Gauge. That gauge can be spent on passive upgrades for Leon, including abilities that improve his damage, help him survive stronger attacks, or make later waves easier to handle.

There are five difficulty settings, with each one becoming tougher than the last. One of them is designed for players who want a serious challenge, so this mode should give experienced Resident Evil fans something harder to master.
Here is what the free update adds:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| New mode | Leon Must Die Forever |
| Character | Leon Kennedy |
| Structure | Wave based survival challenge |
| Unlock requirement | Finish the main campaign on any difficulty |
| Main goal | Fight through enemies and defeat Victor |
| Difficulty settings | Five |
| Roguelike element | Enhancement Gauge and passive upgrades |
| Extra update content | Bug fixes, balance changes, and DualSense support improvements |
The update also adds gameplay balance changes, bug fixes, and support for PS5 DualSense features such as adaptive triggers, vibration, and motion sensor functions.
This is not the only DLC planned for Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom is also working on a larger story expansion, though it does not have a release date yet.
Resident Evil Requiem has already been a major success for Capcom, selling 5 million copies in its first five days. With strong reviews, a free challenge mode, and more DLC on the way, the game looks set to remain active well beyond launch.
