Ubisoft is preparing Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 11 Season 2 update, Operation System Override, and it brings one of the game’s biggest competitive changes in a long time. The update launches on June 2 for all players, with test server access starting on May 18.
The new season does not add a brand new operator. Instead, Ubisoft is reworking Dokkaebi, adding a fresh map inspired by Rainbow Six Vegas, and making major changes to ranked play.
Dokkaebi’s phone based ability is changing in a big way. Instead of calling the entire enemy team, she will now target one operator at a time. If that player does not answer and stop the timer, the phone detonates, damaging them and disabling their phone for the rest of the round.
That is a major penalty because the affected player will lose access to observation tools and any gadgets that depend on phone access. Dokkaebi can still hack phones to gain camera control, but only for a limited time. She is also getting the XK23 assault rifle as a new primary weapon option for short and medium range fights.
| Season 2 feature | What is changing |
|---|---|
| Operator update | Dokkaebi rework |
| New weapon option | XK23 assault rifle |
| New map | Calypso Casino |
| Ranked play | Hidden MMR removed |
| Rewards | Ranked play now gives cosmetic and premium currency rewards |
| Console update | Mouse and keyboard support coming mid season |
| Launch date | June 2 |
| Test server | May 18 |
The new map is Calypso Casino, inspired by a classic Rainbow Six Vegas location. Ubisoft says the map keeps the spirit of the original while being rebuilt for Siege’s competitive standards. It includes rooftop access through a crane, a basement spawn route, casino façade scaling, and a larger drone vent network.

These changes should give attackers and defenders more ways to approach each round. Verticality appears to be a major focus, with more routes, counterplay options, and ways to gather information before committing to an entry.
The ranked update may be the biggest change for long time players. Ubisoft is removing hidden MMR and making rank numbers public. Placement matches are also returning at the start of each season, giving players a clearer path into competitive play.
Ranked will also reward people simply for playing. Ubisoft is adding cosmetic and premium currency rewards, which could encourage more players to stay active throughout the season. Squad restrictions are being added too, with the goal of reducing matches where players have huge rank gaps.
Other changes include weekly rotating operators for the trial version of the game, balance updates for several operators, and visual improvements for Emerald Plains and Kanal.
Official mouse and keyboard support on consoles is also coming later in the season. Console players using mouse and keyboard will be moved into the PC matchmaking pool, which should help protect controller based console matches from unfair input advantages.
Operation System Override looks like a practical update rather than a flashy one. Ubisoft is not only adding content. It is trying to fix ranked clarity, reduce matchmaking frustration, and modernize older systems while keeping Siege competitive after more than a decade of support.
