PlayStation is testing weekly player charts on PS5 Welcome Hub

Sony is testing a new PS5 feature that shows which games are getting the most attention on PlayStation. The feature appears inside the PS5 Welcome Hub and gives players weekly player counts and trending game data, similar in spirit to the way SteamDB shows activity for PC games.

The new widget is currently part of the PS5 beta program, so it is not available to everyone yet. It has two main sections: Top 10 and Trending Now. Top 10 shows the games with the highest weekly player numbers, while Trending Now highlights games that are seeing a sudden rise in popularity.

This is not the same as a live concurrent player count. It does not show how many people are playing a game at that exact moment. Instead, it gives a weekly view of which games are most active on PlayStation in your country.

That country based tracking is important. The data will not show global rankings, so the list may look different depending on where you live. Still, it gives players a clearer look at what is popular on PS5, which has usually been harder to see compared with Steam.

FeatureWhat it shows
Top 10Weekly player numbers for the most played games
Trending NowGames gaining popularity in your country
Update styleWeekly data, not live concurrent numbers

Main limitRegion based results instead of global data

The first visible list from the feature showed Fortnite far ahead in the United States, with 14.6 million weekly players. GTA V, Minecraft, and Call of Duty also appeared near the top, showing how dominant long running live service and multiplayer games remain on PlayStation.

GameWeekly players shown
Fortnite14.6 million
GTA V5.13 million
Minecraft4.97 million
Call of Duty4.95 million
Apex Legends1.72 million
Marvel Rivals1.58 million
Battlefield 61.51 million
ARC Raiders972,000

The Top 10 list may not change much every week because major live service games usually keep large audiences. Trending Now could be more interesting because it may highlight new releases, big updates, events, or older games that suddenly return to attention.

The feature could also help players find games that are active in their own region. If you want a multiplayer game with a strong local player base, this kind of data could make choosing what to play easier.

For Sony, this is also a useful way to show which games are driving engagement on PlayStation. Steam player counts often shape online discussion around game launches, but they only show PC activity. With this PS5 feature, PlayStation could start giving its own clearer picture of what people are playing on console.

There is no full rollout date yet. Since the feature is still in beta, Sony may adjust how it works before bringing it to all PS5 players.
