Pearl Abyss is moving more development resources toward DokeV as work on Crimson Desert becomes more stable, with the studio now targeting a launch in the second half of 2028.
The company also plans to begin a broader marketing campaign for DokeV in the second half of 2027. That effort is expected to include playable demos and a gradual release of new information.
DokeV has been in development for several years, but Pearl Abyss says the project has now moved beyond its foundational systems and into a phase focused more heavily on content production and validating its core gameplay loop.
DokeV development is moving into a new phase
| Area | Current plan |
|---|---|
| Target launch | Second half of 2028 |
| Playable demos | Second half of 2027 |
| Marketing expansion | Second half of 2027 |
| Development status | Content expansion and gameplay validation |
| Resource shift | Staff moving from Crimson Desert |
| Game type | Open world creature collecting adventure |
Pearl Abyss says development is progressing by using experience, tools and production knowledge gained from its earlier projects.
That includes Crimson Desert, which has been a major focus for the studio for several years.
As patch work and live operations for Crimson Desert become more stable, some developers are now being reassigned to DokeV.
The company says this gradual shift is intended to help it meet the planned second half of 2028 release window.
Playable demos are planned for 2027
Pearl Abyss expects DokeV to reappear publicly in a much bigger way during the second half of next year.
The studio plans to start full scale marketing during that period, including playable demonstrations and a sequence of new reveals tied to development milestones.
That could mark the first substantial public update on the game in years.

DokeV was originally revealed at G Star 2019 alongside Crimson Desert, but its development has been relatively quiet compared with Pearl Abyss’ other projects.
Its most recent major trailer is now several years old.
DokeV remains focused on exploration and creature collecting
DokeV is being designed as an open world game centered around exploring a colorful world and growing alongside its collectible creatures.
Pearl Abyss says the project is built around bright visuals, dynamic action, exploration and interactive systems.
The game has often drawn attention because of its visual style and its combination of creature collecting with a large explorable environment.
The latest update does not provide major new details about combat, progression or platforms, but it does confirm that Pearl Abyss is now preparing for a more visible stage of development.
Crimson Desert remains active while resources move
The shift does not mean Pearl Abyss is abandoning Crimson Desert.
The company still has plans for additional content, including DLC and a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Instead, the staffing change appears to be part of a normal transition as one major project moves further into post launch support and another enters heavier production.
Pearl Abyss says the reallocation will happen progressively rather than all at once.
For DokeV, the most important update is the clearer timetable. If development stays on schedule, players should begin seeing much more of the game in the second half of 2027, followed by a planned launch in the second half of 2028.
