NVIDIA has released RTX Remix 1.6, introducing DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, expanded frame generation support, and new artificial intelligence tools for game modders.
The update also brings experimental RTX Remix support to Minecraft Java Edition, allowing players to experience improved lighting, reflections, and shadows through path tracing.
RTX Remix is designed to help developers and modding communities modernize older PC games with upgraded textures, materials, and rendering technologies.
The latest version is available through GitHub and the NVIDIA App.
NVIDIA RTX Remix 1.6 Introduces DLSS 5 and 6X Frame Generation
One of the main additions is DLSS 5 with 3D Guided Neural Rendering, which uses AI to improve how lighting and materials appear in supported games.
NVIDIA has introduced additional customization options, including three neural rendering models, highlight adjustments, volumetric controls, and individual material masks.
These settings allow modders to control how AI enhancements affect different objects and environments.
NVIDIA has demonstrated these improvements in Fallout 4 RTX and Mirror's Edge RTX, highlighting improvements to reflections, shadows, and material appearance.
The update also introduces 5X and 6X Multi Frame Generation for supported GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards.
A new Frame Generation Performance Mode reduces processing overhead, although it may sacrifice some image quality.
Minecraft Java Edition Receives Experimental Path Tracing Support
Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 now supports RTX Remix through a new Fabric mod.
Unlike traditional RTX Remix implementations, the Minecraft version uses an API based rendering system designed to improve efficiency.
The modification introduces path traced lighting, realistic reflections, improved shadows, and global illumination.
NVIDIA has also prepared a physically based texture pack and demonstration map.
However, the feature remains in beta, with limited compatibility and potential graphical problems.
RTX Remix Adds AI Modding Tools and Windows on ARM Support
RTX Remix 1.6 introduces ComfyUI Integration 2.0, providing more flexible workflows for generating textures and meshes using AI.
Improved automation capabilities also allow compatible AI agents to interact with modding tools.

The update adds native Windows on ARM support, including compatibility with selected RTX Remix projects on supported RTX Spark devices.
Performance improvements extend to AMD graphics cards, with one reported configuration showing approximately 20% higher frame rates.
Additional changes include improved HDR texture handling, reduced processing overhead, and fixes for lighting and texture streaming.
NVIDIA now requires driver version 616.92 or newer for supported GeForce configurations.
