Astral Chain, the action game originally released exclusively for Nintendo Switch, has received a significant visual improvement through NVIDIA DLSS 5 neural rendering on its unofficial native PC port.
A new gameplay demonstration shows how the technology enhances environmental textures and lighting, giving PlatinumGames' 2019 title a noticeably different visual presentation.
The improvements arrive alongside a November 4 update for the community developed PC port, which introduces expanded controller compatibility, experimental support for unrestricted frame rates and several gameplay improvements.
Although Nintendo has not announced an official PC version, the unofficial project is making progress toward providing a more flexible way to experience the original game.
NVIDIA DLSS 5 Gives Astral Chain More Detailed Environments
A gameplay video published by No Music Gaming demonstrates Astral Chain running with DLSS 5 neural rendering enabled.
The footage highlights improved texture detail throughout the environments, alongside lighting changes that create a darker atmosphere in certain scenes.

These adjustments make parts of the game resemble a modern remaster, although they also introduce visual differences from the original Nintendo Switch presentation.
NVIDIA introduced DLSS 5 neural rendering in September 2026, allowing supported games and projects to enhance their visual output using AI technology.
The technology has previously been demonstrated in games with realistic graphics and more stylized titles.
However, the Astral Chain demonstration does not provide detailed performance measurements or specific rendering settings.
Consequently, its visual improvements should be considered an early demonstration rather than evidence of consistent results across the entire game.
Astral Chain PC Port Adds Uncapped Frame Rates and Controller Support
The unofficial PC port has also received several functional improvements independent of DLSS 5.
Its November 4 update introduces support for controllers beyond Xbox devices, along with rumble functionality and additional settings accessible directly inside the game.
Experimental uncapped frame rate support is another important addition.
The original Nintendo Switch release targets 30 FPS, while the PC project aims to offer greater flexibility on capable hardware.
The developers have acknowledged extensive use of Anthropic's Claude through Claude Code for programming, reverse engineering, tooling and documentation.
However, the project remains unofficial, and its compatibility, stability and long term development are not guaranteed.
Astral Chain was originally developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo.
For now, the PC port demonstrates how community development and newer graphics technologies can improve the presentation and technical flexibility of older console exclusives without an official remaster.
