Mundfish is watching DLSS 5, but it is not committing yet

Mundfish is not ready to confirm DLSS 5 support for its next games. CEO Robert Bagratuni called NVIDIA’s new technology “highly promising,” but said the studio is still monitoring its development and will decide later whether it makes sense for future releases.

That means Atomic Heart 2 and The Cube are not confirmed for DLSS 5 right now. Atomic Heart already supports NVIDIA features like DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation, so Mundfish clearly has experience with NVIDIA’s tech. The difference is that DLSS 5 is newer and more controversial, especially among developers and modders.

Mundfish is also holding back on daily AI tool use

Bagratuni also addressed the use of AI tools in game development. Mundfish has studied neural networks internally and sees how they could help during pre production, especially for testing ideas faster and reducing early development time. Still, the studio has decided not to add AI tools to its daily production pipelines for now.

TopicMundfish position
DLSS 5Promising, but not confirmed
Atomic Heart 2No DLSS 5 commitment yet
The CubeNo DLSS 5 commitment yet
AI toolsResearched internally, not used in daily production
Future AI usePossible later, but not current policy

The studio’s position is careful rather than absolute. Mundfish is not rejecting AI forever, and it is not saying DLSS 5 will never happen. It is choosing to wait, test, and see whether these tools actually help players or production before building around them.

That approach makes sense because Mundfish is working on two large projects at the same time. Atomic Heart 2 is expected to expand on the first game, while The Cube is an MMO set in the same universe. Adding new technology to daily production too early could create risk if the tools are not stable or if teams have to redesign workflows around them.

Bagratuni’s AI comments also reflect a wider debate in game development. AI can help with early ideation and repetitive tasks, but many developers are cautious about using it in creative production. Mundfish says human creativity remains central, and AI should be treated as a tool rather than a replacement for creative people.

For players, the practical takeaway is simple. Do not assume Atomic Heart 2 or The Cube will launch with DLSS 5. Mundfish is interested, but it has not made a promise. The same applies to AI tools inside the studio. The team is watching the technology, but for now, its main development work remains human led.
