MSI Launches $7,000 Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition for Its 40th Anniversary

MSI has released a limited edition gaming laptop to mark its 40th anniversary, combining flagship mobile hardware with custom artwork and several collector focused accessories.

The Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Draco Epic is priced at $6,999.99 in the United States. It is also listed in Germany for €7,799, placing it among the most expensive gaming laptops currently available.

MSI first presented the special model at Computex 2026 without confirming its price. The final retail cost makes it a highly specialized product aimed at collectors and buyers who want one of the company’s most powerful portable gaming systems.

Flagship Hardware Includes an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU

The laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. The graphics processor includes 24GB of GDDR7 memory, giving it enough capacity for demanding games, creative software, and professional graphics workloads.

MSI pairs the processor and graphics card with 96GB of DDR5 memory. Storage consists of two separate 2TB drives, including one PCIe 5.0 SSD and one PCIe 4.0 SSD, for a total capacity of 4TB.

The large memory capacity goes beyond what most games require, but it could benefit video editing, 3D rendering, virtual machines, and other workloads that use substantial amounts of RAM.

The 18 Inch MiniLED Display Supports DisplayHDR 1000

The Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition uses an 18 inch MiniLED display with a resolution of 3840 × 2400 and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The panel carries VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, indicating strong peak brightness and greater contrast than a standard LCD panel. The combination of a high resolution and 120Hz refresh rate should support detailed visuals while maintaining smoother motion in games.

Running modern games at the display’s native resolution will place a heavy load on the mobile RTX 5090. Owners may need to use image upscaling, frame generation, or reduced graphics settings in demanding titles to maintain high frame rates.

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI 2.1, and Wi Fi 7. The laptop also includes a 99.9Wh battery, which is close to the maximum capacity commonly allowed for air travel.

Battery life is unlikely to be a major strength given the powerful processor, high end graphics card, large display, and MiniLED backlight. The system is better suited to use near a power outlet, despite its portable form.

Custom Dragon Artwork Defines the Special Edition

The anniversary model uses an anodized metal finish with engraved dragon artwork across the chassis. These visual changes distinguish it from standard Titan 18 HX configurations and form a large part of its collector appeal.

MSI also includes a limited edition coin, gaming mouse, and matching mousepad. Buyers receive a code for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as part of the package.

These accessories add presentation value, but they do not fully explain the large premium over other high end gaming laptops. Most of the price comes from the flagship hardware, special chassis treatment, limited production, and anniversary branding.

The system is intended for a narrow group of buyers rather than the wider gaming market. A desktop with similar spending could offer stronger performance, easier upgrades, and better cooling. A less expensive laptop could also deliver good gaming results without the custom design or collector items.

The Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition instead focuses on combining top mobile hardware with a distinctive anniversary design. Its 96GB of memory, dual 2TB SSDs, MiniLED screen, and RTX 5090 Laptop GPU make it highly capable, but the $7,000 price will keep it beyond the reach of most players.
