Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is giving Dual Blades a major overhaul through its new Boost Bracer mechanic, adding faster attacks, new aerial options, and fresh combo routes.
The latest weapon showcase focuses on Dual Blades, already one of the fastest melee weapon types in Monster Hunter Wilds. The expansion increases that speed further by adding a new Boost Driver attack and a temporary powered state that changes how the weapon behaves.
Ascendance is scheduled to launch in 2027 for Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Boost Driver Adds a New Counter Style Attack
The Dual Blades gain a new move called Boost Driver.
The attack lets the hunter spin toward an enemy and knock it off balance while it is attacking. Because it counts as an Offset attack, it gives Dual Blades another way to interrupt aggressive monsters instead of relying only on dodging and constant movement.
Boost Driver also helps fill the Archdemon Mode gauge.
That creates a direct connection between the new Ascendance mechanic and the existing Dual Blades systems, allowing players to build toward stronger states while remaining aggressive.
Boost Gauge Can Double Attack Speed
The largest change appears once the Boost Gauge is filled.
Activating it can double the attack speed of Dual Blades for a period of time. Individual strikes can also produce multiple hits and reach farther than normal.
The powered state unlocks additional combo attacks as well.
One new sequence ends with the hunter holding both blades together in one hand before delivering a strong upward strike.

That gives the weapon a heavier finishing move while keeping the rapid attack style that defines Dual Blades.
The changes should make the weapon even more focused on short bursts of high damage.
Perfect Dodge Now Leads Into Aerial Combat
Ascendance is also expanding what players can do after a Perfect Dodge.
While the Boost Gauge is active, a successful Perfect Dodge can launch the hunter into the air.
From there, players can immediately transition into aerial attacks and spin across a monster's body with Dual Blades.
Previously, reaching similar aerial positions often required using Focus Mode attacks, environmental terrain, or jumping from ledges.
The new mechanic makes aerial combat more directly available during normal fights.
Dual Blades Keep Their Fast Combat Identity
Dual Blades already rely heavily on speed, mobility, and aggressive positioning.
Demon Mode allows the weapon to attack quickly while also giving players access to a Perfect Dodge that can briefly avoid damage when timed correctly.
The Boost Bracer appears designed to build on those strengths rather than changing the weapon into something completely different.
Faster strikes, broader attack range, additional hits, and more aerial options all reinforce the existing play style.
Ascendance is applying the Boost Bracer system across all 14 weapon types, with individual showcase videos highlighting how each weapon changes.
For Dual Blades players, the new mechanics suggest one of the most aggressive versions of the weapon seen in Monster Hunter Wilds so far.
The expansion is expected to arrive in 2027, giving players new monsters, environments, and combat mechanics alongside these weapon upgrades.
