Microsoft PowerToys 0.102 Adds Mouse Button Lock, CursorHide and New Windows Productivity Features

Microsoft has released PowerToys 0.102, introducing new mouse controls, keyboard customization options, and several improvements designed to make everyday Windows tasks easier.

The latest update adds Mouse Button Lock and CursorHide, two utilities that give you more control over mouse interactions and cursor visibility.

Microsoft has also expanded Command Palette, improved Keyboard Manager, and introduced additional capabilities for screenshots and window management.

PowerToys 0.102 is available as a free update through the application or Microsoft's GitHub repository.

PowerToys 0.102 Introduces Mouse Button Lock and CursorHide

Mouse Button Lock allows you to drag objects or select content without continuously holding down a mouse button.

To activate the feature, hold the mouse button for a few seconds and then release it. The dragging or selection operation continues until you click again.

This can make lengthy dragging operations more convenient, particularly when editing images, selecting text, or moving objects across large displays.

The second addition, CursorHide, automatically hides the mouse pointer when you begin typing or leave the mouse inactive for a specified period.

You can configure either behavior independently or use both together.

The pointer becomes visible again when you move the mouse.

Command Palette and Keyboard Manager Receive New Features

Command Palette now includes a quick access panel where you can pin frequently used commands.

Pinned commands can be launched using keyboard shortcuts from Alt + 1 through Alt + 9.

The update also introduces settings search, multiple clocks for different time zones, and support for opening Command Palette with the Copilot key on compatible keyboards.

Keyboard Manager gains more flexible key assignments.

For example, you can configure a key to perform one action when pressed individually while retaining its original behavior when combined with another key.

PowerToys 0.102 also introduces the ability to combine screenshots with locally transcribed voice notes.

These changes expand the customization options available on Windows while keeping PowerToys free to use.
