Microsoft has officially launched the Xbox Nano Controller, a compact wireless gamepad designed for Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, smartphones and cloud gaming.
The controller became available on November 4, 2026, with a starting retail price of $49.99. It is being sold through Microsoft's official store and several major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart.
First announced in October, the Xbox Nano offers a smaller alternative to Microsoft's standard controller while retaining its familiar button layout and broad device compatibility.
Its compact design makes it particularly suitable for portable gaming and players who find conventional controllers uncomfortable to hold.
Xbox Nano Controller Weighs Just 99 Grams
The Xbox Nano measures slightly more than five inches across and weighs approximately 99 grams, making it significantly smaller and lighter than a standard Xbox controller.
Despite its reduced dimensions, Microsoft has retained the traditional Xbox control arrangement to provide a familiar gaming experience.
The controller also includes a rechargeable battery, removing the need for disposable batteries.

An additional Action Button allows players to capture screenshots, record gameplay and access supported shortcuts.
However, Microsoft has removed vibration functionality from the smaller design.
The controller also reportedly lacks Hall Effect and TMR thumbsticks, technologies commonly associated with improved resistance to stick drift.
These omissions may matter to players who prioritize advanced controller features over portability.
Xbox Nano Supports Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless
Microsoft has designed the Nano to work across several gaming platforms, making it useful for players who regularly switch between devices.
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Price | $49.99 |
| Weight | Approximately 99 grams |
| Width | Slightly over 5 inches |
| Connectivity | Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth |
| Battery | Rechargeable |
| Vibration | Not supported |
| Compatibility | Xbox, Windows, Android, iOS and supported smart TVs |
The controller supports Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, alongside Windows PCs and compatible mobile devices.
It can also be used with Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing players to access supported games on smartphones without carrying a larger controller.
Early impressions of the device have been positive, although comprehensive testing is still needed to evaluate its comfort, battery life and overall performance.
At $49.99, the Nano offers a portable alternative to Microsoft's regular controllers, particularly for mobile gaming and players who prefer smaller hardware.
