DriftGuard claims it can permanently recalibrate every Xbox controller to fight stick drift

DriftGuard says it has found a way to recalibrate Xbox controller joysticks permanently, which could give players another option before replacing a drifting controller. The third party app already supported PlayStation controllers, but its latest breakthrough is focused on Xbox gamepads.

Stick drift is one of the most frustrating controller problems because it can make a character, camera, or cursor move even when you are not touching the stick. Sometimes the cause is simple, such as dirt around the stick base or a normal calibration issue. In those cases, cleaning or recalibrating the controller may help. But deeper drift problems often push players toward repairs or buying a new controller.

DriftGuard stores calibration inside the controller instead of relying only on software fixes

The major claim from DriftGuard is that its Xbox calibration changes are stored directly in the controller’s memory. The team says this makes the fix permanent and unpatchable, meaning an official controller update should not erase the calibration.

The app reportedly works with a wide range of Xbox controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox Elite V1, Xbox Elite V2, Xbox Elite Core, wired models, and wireless models.

DriftGuard claimWhat it means
Manual calibrationPlayers can adjust joystick calibration themselves
Automatic calibrationThe app can detect and correct calibration issues
Stored in controller memoryChanges remain on the controller
Works on many Xbox padsCovers older and newer Xbox controllers
Browser optionCalibration can be tried for free through the web
Steam versionPaid version adds extra features and supports the developers

Microsoft already offers a recalibration tool through the Xbox Accessories app, but it is limited to Xbox Wireless Controllers and Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controllers. Windows Central’s report also says the official tool does not always catch every calibration issue.

That is where DriftGuard may be useful. The report says the app found calibration problems that the official Xbox tool did not detect, although the tested controller was in good condition, so the real impact on severe stick drift is still unclear.

This distinction matters. DriftGuard may help when drift is caused by poor calibration or stick center values being off. It is less likely to fully repair a controller with broken internal hardware, worn potentiometers, damaged parts, or major physical failure. In those cases, repair or replacement may still be needed.

Even so, the app could save some controllers from being thrown away too early. If your controller is drifting, trying calibration first is cheaper and less wasteful than immediately buying another gamepad.

The new Xbox support is expected to arrive in the Steam version soon, while free browser based calibration is already available. For players dealing with stick drift, DriftGuard looks worth trying before spending money on a new controller.

Destiny 2 fans push for Destiny 3 as Bungie prepares final live service update

Destiny 2 fans are trying to send Sony and Bungie a message after news that active live service development will end with the Monument of Triumph update on June 9. Servers are expected to remain online in a static state, but many players see the decision as the end of an era for one of gaming’s biggest shared world shooters.

The response has quickly turned into a community campaign. Fans are signing a petition asking Sony to begin development on Destiny 3, while others are calling for past and present players to log into Destiny 2 on June 9 to show how much interest still exists.

Fans want a huge June 9 login spike to prove Destiny still has value

The Change.org petition has already gathered more than 45,000 signatures, according to the report. Many comments come from long time players who say Destiny helped them build friendships, get through difficult periods, and stay connected with people over the last decade.

The June 9 campaign is simple. Players are being encouraged to log in at the same time when the Monument of Triumph update arrives. The goal is to flood the servers and create a visible metric that Sony and Bungie cannot easily ignore.

Some fans are also frustrated because they believe Sony is moving attention toward Marathon instead of investing in Destiny’s future. Marathon has already faced its own pressure, and many Destiny players argue that Bungie’s strongest bet is still Destiny 3.

The situation is emotional because Destiny has never been only a normal shooter for its most dedicated players. It has been a long running hobby, a social space, and a weekly routine. Raids, expansions, seasonal stories, Crucible matches, and clan friendships have made the game part of players’ lives for years.

A petition and login campaign may not force a business reversal. Large publishers rarely change long term strategy based only on one community event. But it can still show how much goodwill and loyalty remain around the franchise.

For Bungie, the risk is clear. Letting Destiny slow down without a clear next step could weaken one of the studio’s most important brands. For fans, June 9 has become more than an update day. It is a chance to show that the Destiny community is still alive and wants the series to continue.
