Xbox is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new collector set that recreates the original 2001 console at full scale.
The Mattel Brick Shop Microsoft Xbox Building Toy Kit uses 3,509 pieces to build a 1:1 version of the original Xbox alongside a recreation of the large wired Duke controller. The set is listed at $329.99, placing it firmly in premium collector territory.
What makes the kit more than a simple console replica is what sits inside. The model includes three miniature displays inspired by Halo, Psychonauts, and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. These internal scenes also feature built in lighting that can be activated through the recreated Duke controller.
The Xbox set is packed with hidden details
The finished model is designed to closely match the size and appearance of the original Xbox, which was known for its large black chassis and prominent green branding.
Inside the console, the three game themed dioramas give the model a second purpose as a display piece. Instead of only recreating the exterior hardware, the set adds references to important games from the system’s early years.

The lighting system helps distinguish the set from a basic brick model. Activating the internal scenes through the controller also gives the Duke recreation a functional role rather than leaving it as a separate static accessory.
For collectors who want to display the internal sections, however, the full size design will require a significant amount of shelf or desk space.
Price is much higher than the earlier Xbox 360 set
The $329.99 price is likely to be one of the biggest considerations for buyers.
Mattel previously released a brick built Xbox 360 model that launched at $150. The new original Xbox set costs more than twice as much, although it is also larger, more detailed, and includes 3,509 pieces along with the internal dioramas and lighting.

The full size design means the model is also much bigger than the earlier 3:4 scale Xbox 360 set.
At more than $300, the kit may cost considerably more than an actual used original Xbox console in good condition. That comparison highlights the fact that this product is aimed at collectors and building set enthusiasts rather than anyone simply looking for classic Xbox hardware.
Halo, Morrowind and Psychonauts reflect early Xbox history
The three internal game references are an important part of the anniversary theme.
Halo became closely associated with Xbox from the console’s launch period and helped establish Microsoft’s gaming platform. Morrowind was another major early Xbox release and brought a large scale role playing experience to consoles.
Psychonauts arrived later in the original Xbox generation but became a well known cult favorite.
Including all three gives the set a broader celebration of the console’s software history rather than focusing only on its hardware design.
The Mattel Brick Shop original Xbox building set does not yet have a confirmed release date. It is currently listed at $329.99, with additional retailer listings already appearing.
For collectors interested in Xbox history, the combination of a full size console, Duke controller, illuminated game scenes, and more than 3,500 pieces makes it an elaborate anniversary item. Its price and physical size, however, mean it is clearly designed for dedicated collectors rather than casual buyers.
