Lords of the Fallen II Reveals Major Combat Improvements as CI Games Secures €28.6 Million Loan

CI Games has revealed major combat improvements for Lords of the Fallen II while securing a €28.6 million loan to complete development after ending its Epic Games Store exclusivity agreement.

The upcoming action RPG will introduce expanded weapon movesets, improved magic systems and greater flexibility when combining melee and ranged attacks.

The publisher also confirmed that the game's development budget, including marketing, remains below €55 million.

Lords of the Fallen II was originally scheduled for 2026 before being delayed to early 2027. However, the latest announcement mentions only a general 2027 release window, raising questions about whether another delay is possible.

Lords of the Fallen II Expands Weapon Movesets and Combat Options

In a new developer presentation, CI Games outlined substantial changes to the combat system.

The sequel will feature nearly 30 distinct weapon movesets, compared with 15 in the 2023 game.

New weapon categories include scythes, claws, fists and katanas, each offering different attacks and animations.

Players will also be able to switch between one handed and two handed combat instantly.

Additionally, the game allows switching between two melee loadouts during combos without interrupting attacks.

Each melee setup supports two quickfire abilities, allowing players to use spells, ranged attacks or temporary enhancements without changing combat stances.

Boss weapons will also feature unique signature attacks.

Magic and Ranged Combat Receive Major Improvements

CI Games is expanding spellcasting through seven schools of magic and dedicated combat stances.

Players can equip four spells with one catalyst and another four with a second, allowing quick access to eight spells.

Mana can now be restored using the Sanguinarix rather than relying entirely on consumable items.

Ranged weapons also receive unlimited basic ammunition, while stronger ammunition types can be replenished at designated locations.

Weapon upgrades can be recovered for a small fee, encouraging experimentation with different builds.

CI Games Secures Funding After Ending Epic Exclusivity

The financial development follows CI Games' decision to cancel its previous PC exclusivity arrangement with Epic Games.

The publisher has secured €28.6 million in financing to support the remaining development work.

The decision will allow Lords of the Fallen II to launch on Steam, with CI Games retaining the associated sales revenue.

Approximately 165 developers are working on the project across Europe, primarily in Spain.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Lords of the Fallen II is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
