LG Electronics has confirmed plans to unveil a humanoid home robot at CES 2026, marking a major step in its push toward fully automated smart homes. The robot, branded LG CLOiD, will debut publicly in Las Vegas this January as part of the company’s long-term “Zero Labor Home” vision.
A humanoid robot designed for real household tasks
Unlike single-purpose home robots, CLOiD aims to handle a broad range of everyday chores. LG positions the robot as an in-home assistant capable of manipulating objects, managing tasks, and interacting naturally with users, rather than focusing on one function such as cleaning or monitoring.
CLOiD features two articulated arms with seven degrees of freedom each, paired with five-finger hands for precise object handling. This design allows it to perform tasks that require dexterity, including organizing items or handling laundry.
Built-in AI and expressive interaction
LG equipped CLOiD with a head-mounted computing unit that integrates cameras, sensors, a display, and speakers. These components enable navigation, environmental awareness, and direct communication with users.
The humanoid robot runs on LG’s “Affectionate Intelligence” platform, an AI system designed to recognize user habits, adapt to routines, and support more natural interactions over time. LG says this approach moves beyond command-based controls toward proactive assistance.
Deep integration with LG’s smart home ecosystem
CLOiD will integrate with LG’s broader smart home platform, allowing it to coordinate with connected appliances and systems. LG envisions scenarios where the robot manages workflows across devices, such as assisting with laundry cycles or organizing household items alongside smart appliances.
To support this effort, LG has expanded its robotics development through a dedicated HS Robotics Lab, which focuses on AI-driven home automation and service robots.
What LG has not revealed yet
LG has only released teaser visuals and high-level specifications so far. The company has not disclosed pricing, battery life, real-world performance benchmarks, or consumer availability timelines. Live demonstrations and deeper technical details are expected during CES 2026.
Why this matters
LG’s announcement reflects a broader industry shift toward general-purpose humanoid robots for consumer use. As major tech companies prepare similar showcases at CES 2026, the success of products like CLOiD will likely depend on practical capability, safety, and affordability rather than concept appeal alone.
More details are expected when LG takes the stage in January, where CLOiD will face its first real test in front of the global tech audience.
