LEGO Batman sells well on Xbox despite Forza Horizon 6 and 007 First Light taking the spotlight

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight may not have dominated gaming headlines this month, but it still appears to be off to a solid start. New sales estimates suggest the game sold around 1.2 million copies across PS5, Xbox, and Steam in its first main week on sale, generating about $83 million in gross revenue.

That is a strong result for a game that launched during a crowded May window. Forza Horizon 6 and 007 First Light have taken much of the attention on Xbox recently, with both games drawing major discussion and strong early sales. LEGO Batman arrived in the same busy stretch, which made it easy to overlook.

Still, the numbers suggest that Batman and LEGO remain a powerful combination. According to the estimate, PS5 accounted for 53.3 percent of copies sold, Xbox made up 25.1 percent, and Steam accounted for 21.6 percent. That gives Xbox more than a quarter of early sales, which is a healthy share for a third party family focused action adventure game.

LEGO Batman found its audience even in a crowded release window

The timing could have been risky. Launching close to Forza Horizon 6, one of Xbox’s biggest releases of the year, may have reduced some attention around LEGO Batman. 007 First Light also became a major talking point because of its strong reviews and huge first day sales.

But LEGO games often work differently from many traditional AAA launches. They are usually not built only around the first week. Families, younger players, Batman fans, LEGO fans, and casual co op players often buy them over a longer period, especially during sales and holiday windows.

PlatformEstimated sales share
PS553.3 percent
Xbox25.1 percent
Steam21.6 percent
Total estimated sales1.2 million copies
Estimated gross revenue$83 million

The console heavy split also makes sense. LEGO games have a long history on consoles, and they are often played in living rooms by families or in local co op. PC still matters, but the audience for this kind of game remains strongly tied to console platforms.

There may also be another reason Steam’s share is lower. Some PC players were reportedly cautious before launch because of the game’s listed system requirements. Once reviews arrived and performance looked better than expected, that concern may have eased, but it may still have affected early sales.

For Xbox, the 25.1 percent share is notable. The platform has had a busy month, and players already had several big games competing for attention. Even so, LEGO Batman still managed to find buyers. That suggests there is still strong demand for family friendly licensed games on Xbox, especially when the brand is as recognizable as Batman.

The game’s longer term performance may matter more than its launch week. LEGO games often receive discounts fairly quickly, and many players may wait for a sale before buying. That could help Legacy of the Dark Knight continue selling steadily through the rest of the year.

May 2026 has turned into a strong month for Xbox software overall. Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, and LEGO Batman all appear to have performed well in different ways. One is a major racing blockbuster, one is a cinematic Bond adventure, and one is a family friendly superhero game with long tail appeal.

LEGO Batman may not be the loudest success of the month, but 1.2 million estimated copies in its first main week shows it has not been lost in the crowd. For a game launching beside two bigger headline makers, that is a very respectable start.
