LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight gets Steam Deck Verified before launch

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has received the Steam Deck Verified badge ahead of its May 22 release.

That is good news for players hoping to take the new LEGO Batman game on the go. Valve’s Verified rating means the game should show correct controller icons, have readable text, and work well with its default controller layout and graphics settings on Steam Deck.

There is one small note. The game may not automatically default to external controllers, so players might need to switch controller order manually through the Steam Deck quick access menu when using another controller.

The Verified badge is encouraging, but there is still reason to be cautious. The game’s earlier PC system requirements looked surprisingly heavy for Steam Deck. The listed minimum target mentioned 30 FPS with frame generation, which is not ideal. Frame generation at a low base frame rate can feel uneven, especially on a handheld where input response matters.

That is why the Steam Deck Verified badge is interesting. It may mean the published spec sheet was too conservative, or that the game has a specific Deck friendly configuration that works better than expected. It could also mean frame generation is part of the default setup, which would be less reassuring.

The game itself looks exciting for LEGO fans. Legacy of the Dark Knight appears to take inspiration from the Batman Arkham series and rebuild that style through LEGO’s humor, co op friendly design, and collectible focused structure.

That could make it one of the more interesting LEGO games in years, especially for players who still enjoy revisiting older LEGO titles on handhelds.

Steam Deck Verified does not always guarantee perfect performance, but it is still a positive sign. At minimum, Valve believes the game is playable and properly configured for the handheld.

The real test will come at launch. If LEGO Batman can hold a stable frame rate without relying too heavily on frame generation, it could become a great Steam Deck game. For now, the Verified badge gives players a reason to be hopeful, even if the earlier PC specs still leave some doubts.
