Insomniac Games is reportedly still developing its standalone Marvel's Venom project, although there is still no clear indication of when Sony plans to announce it.
The game first became public through Insomniac's major 2023 data leak, which exposed internal plans for several Marvel titles. Since then, the project has never been formally revealed, leading to questions about whether it remained active.
A recent claim from insider Nate the Hate says the game was still in development at the last check, but its announcement timing remains unknown.

The Project First Appeared in Insomniac's 2023 Leak
The standalone Venom game became known after a ransomware attack against Insomniac in December 2023 exposed a large collection of internal files.
Among the leaked materials was a development roadmap listing Venom ahead of Marvel's Wolverine, Marvel's Spider Man 3, another Ratchet & Clank game, and a future X Men project.
The roadmap originally pointed to a 2025 release for Venom, but that schedule has clearly changed.
Because the game was never officially announced, Sony and Insomniac have not confirmed a revised window.
Leaked Plans Suggested a Smaller Game Than Spider Man 2
Internal documents reportedly referred to the project as Venom: Lethal Protector.
The game was described as a continuation of Marvel's Spider Man 2 and as a bridge toward Marvel's Spider Man 3.
The leaked scope suggested a shorter experience closer to Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales than a full scale sequel.
The material indicated a campaign lasting roughly eight to ten hours, with 12 main missions alongside optional bases, crimes, and collectibles.
A development budget of around $120 million was also listed, substantially below the reported cost of Marvel's Spider Man 2.
Those figures came from old internal planning documents and may no longer reflect the current version of the project.
Eddie Brock Was Reportedly Planned as Venom's Host
Later reports suggested that Eddie Brock would become the host of the symbiote in the standalone game rather than Harry Osborn.

The character was also reportedly being redesigned to look closer to his traditional comic book appearance.
Neither detail has been confirmed by Insomniac.
The distinction could be important because Marvel's Spider Man 2 used Harry Osborn as a major part of its Venom storyline.
Changing the host would allow the standalone game to explore a different interpretation of the character while continuing the same broader universe.
Reports of Cancellation Were Disputed
Questions about the project's future increased after comments from Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter were interpreted as suggesting that the game had been canceled.
That claim was later disputed by journalist Jason Schreier, who said the standalone Venom project was still being made.
The latest statement from Nate the Hate now adds another indication that development remains active.
Even so, the project has apparently slipped well beyond the schedule shown in the original leaked roadmap.
An Announcement Date Is Still Unknown
The largest unanswered question is when Sony plans to reveal the game.
Insomniac is currently focused publicly on Marvel's Wolverine, which means Sony may prefer to complete that game's marketing cycle before introducing another Marvel title.
A 2027 release has been suggested as a possibility, but there is no confirmed date or official indication that Sony has reserved that window.
The game's reportedly smaller scope could make it easier to release alongside another major PlayStation project, but that remains speculation.
Until Sony or Insomniac makes an announcement, Marvel's Venom should still be treated as an unconfirmed project whose existence is supported primarily by leaked material and subsequent insider reporting.
