How to fix PlayStation controller icons in LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight supports major PC controllers, including Sony’s DualSense controller. The game even supports DualSense haptic feedback over a wireless Bluetooth connection, which is a strong feature for players who prefer the PlayStation 5 controller on PC. However, some Steam players may still see Xbox button icons instead of PlayStation icons while using a DualSense.

The issue is not caused by an in game setting. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does not appear to include a menu option that lets you manually switch between Xbox and PlayStation button prompts. Instead, the fix has to be done through Steam’s controller settings.

Disable Steam Input to make the game detect the DualSense properly

If the game shows Xbox prompts while you are using a DualSense controller, the first thing you should do is disable Steam Input for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Steam Input can be useful in many games because it helps translate different controllers into a standard layout. But in this case, it can make the game treat your DualSense like an Xbox controller, which causes the wrong button icons to appear.

To fix the issue, open Steam and go to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in your library. On the game page, look for the controller icon below the game artwork on the right side of the screen. Click that icon to open the controller settings menu. From there, choose Disable Steam Input. After that, launch the game again and check whether the PlayStation icons appear correctly.

StepWhat to do
1Open LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in your Steam library
2Click the controller icon on the game page
3Open the controller settings menu
4Select Disable Steam Input
5Restart the game and check the button prompts
6Reboot your PC if Xbox icons still appear

If the game still shows Xbox icons after disabling Steam Input, restart your PC. The report says a system reboot should fix the issue for good if the controller prompts do not change immediately.

This fix is useful because it lets the game read the DualSense controller directly instead of receiving Steam’s translated controller layout. Once Steam Input is disabled, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight should be able to show the correct PlayStation button icons and support the controller features properly.

The main thing to remember is that this is a Steam setting, not a game setting. If you are looking through the in game options menu, you probably will not find the answer. Go to Steam’s controller settings for the game, turn off Steam Input, and reboot if needed. That should restore the correct DualSense prompts and make the PC version feel closer to the PlayStation controller experience.
