How to Delete an Instagram Account Fast

To permanently remove your Instagram account and its content, follow the steps below for your device. If you only want a break, choose Deactivate account instead of Delete during step 4.

iPhone & iPad

1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
2. Tap Menu → Settings and privacy → Accounts Center.
3. Personal details → Account ownership and control → Deactivation or deletion.
4. Select the account → Delete account → Continue → enter your password → Delete account.

Android

1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
2. Tap Menu → Settings and privacy → Accounts Center.
3. Personal details → Account ownership and control → Deactivation or deletion.
4. Choose the account → Delete account → Continue → enter your password → Delete account.

Web (instagram.com)

1. Log in and click More → Settings → Accounts Center.
2. Go to Personal details → Account ownership and control.
3. Choose Deactivation or deletion.
4. Pick the account → Delete account → Continue → enter your password → Delete account.

To keep your photos and messages, download your data first:
Settings and privacy → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
Deleted accounts are hidden immediately and permanently removed after a short grace period unless you log back in and cancel deletion.
