Garfield is getting a new 3D platformer on Xbox later this year. Garfield: Escape from Monday is set to launch on September 24, 2026, for Xbox Series X and Series S, along with other platforms.
The game is being developed by OSome Studio, the team behind recent Smurfs games and several Asterix and Obelix titles. That has already made some platforming fans curious, especially because the studio’s past work has earned attention for being better than many expected from licensed games.
Garfield: Escape from Monday sends the lazy orange cat into a strange dream after Jon feeds him spinach lasagna based on Chef Monday’s recipe. Garfield then falls into a deep sleep filled with vegetables, sugar free candy, enemies, and plenty of lasagna to collect.
The story gives Garfield a clear goal: wake up and restore his taste buds. To do that, he must travel through three dream worlds and complete dozens of levels. Jon, Odie, Arlene, and Pookie will also appear during the adventure.

The game will also give Garfield special suits with different abilities. Confirmed outfits include turkey, surfer, and cowboy suits. These suits should help add variety to platforming and level design, though more details about their exact powers have not been shared yet.

Early screenshots have already drawn interest because of their colorful style and old school 3D platformer feel. The game appears to be aiming for a lighter, family friendly platforming experience rather than a complex action adventure.
There is also early hype around the project online. Some fans are interested because Garfield remains a familiar comfort character, while others are watching closely because OSome Studio has built a decent reputation with licensed platformers.
Garfield games have had mixed results over the years, but Escape from Monday looks like a more focused attempt to give the character a proper 3D adventure. If the platforming feels good and the dream worlds have enough charm, this could become a pleasant surprise for Xbox players in September.
