Firefox is testing a Chrome-like safety check for privacy and security

After Unified Trust Panel, Firefox is testing a Chrome-like safety check inside the Privacy & Security section in Nightly. The new panel focuses on common privacy and security issues and brings several checks into one visible space.

Firefox already includes many privacy and security protections. It provides regular updates to keep the browser secure and includes tracking protections to protect user privacy. However, it does not currently offer a single place that gathers privacy and security alerts and recommendations together, like Chrome’s Safety Check. Mozilla is now testing a similar feature inside Firefox.

Firefox’s Privacy & Security section gets a new feature

The new panel highlights issues that affect privacy and security. It can:

• Warn when certain settings reduce security protection
• List security-related issues such as disabled sandbox protections
• Report recent tracker blocking activity
• Flag when an update is available
• Provide a Fix button for specific problems

Instead of leaving users to hunt for problems across multiple settings, the panel brings these checks together in one view.

Below the main panel, Firefox includes a separate Security warnings section. This area focuses on technical risks such as disabled protections and offers direct actions to address them.

For instance, when process sandbox protections are disabled, Firefox presents the issue clearly and offers a "Fix" option rather than hiding the setting deep inside advanced controls.

Most users rarely dig through advanced settings. A visible safety check makes it easier to notice problems early and correct them quickly.

Mozilla has neither announced nor named this feature. It is currently being tested in Nightly and may or may not reach the stable release.
